About The Position

Join Collins Aerospace and help shape the future of Nuclear Command, Control and Communications (NC3) as part of the Survivable Airborne Operations Center (SAOC) Program, supporting the recapitalization of the U.S. Air Force E-4B fleet with next-generation capabilities. As a Senior Systems Engineer on the Integration, Verification and Validation (IV&V) team, you will support complex military communications systems on the E-4 platform and collaborate with geographically distributed, multidisciplinary teams. You will apply systems engineering knowledge across the full development lifecycle, including customer needs analysis, requirements development and traceability, trade studies, system architecture and design, modeling, integration, verification, validation, and qualification. You will develop and validate system models, design and document hardware and software solutions, support technical discussions, and identify and resolve technical issues. This position is onsite in Richardson, TX and requires US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance.

Requirements

  • Experience in writing requirements specifications or executing verification/qualification test events.
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Top Secret clearance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Development of integration and test plans, test cases and procedures.
  • Understanding of advanced networking and cybersecurity topics.
  • Experience with aircraft level system integration.
  • Executing product and system level tests to include experience with automation test tools or scripting.
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering concepts and tools such as Magic Draw CAMEO, Rhapsody, Enterprise Architect.
  • Project planning and execution on programs.
  • Understanding and utilization of the appropriate processes and tools during pursuit and order capture.
  • Strong leadership skills, demonstrated with interpersonal interaction, individual mentoring to develop the team composition, and training.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability to work well with others in a professional team environment.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks, while balancing priorities and schedules are important attributes.
  • Self-starter and have strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically (up to 20% of time).
  • Current/Active Top Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Support the integration, verification and validation for large complex systems.
  • Mentor team members in the development of functional, interface, and performance specifications for hardware and software implementations.
  • Identify and document architecturally significant requirements and technical risk areas.
  • Apply SysML concepts to system modeling across the full engineering lifecycle.
  • Lead technical proposal preparation and serve as a subject matter expert in non-advocate, internal, and customer reviews.
  • Estimate, track, manage, and report technical, cost, schedule, and risk performance for assigned scope of work, which may span multiple projects.
  • Apply significant domain knowledge and expertise related to products, systems, and applicable regulatory requirements across business units.
  • Make decisions that may have a major impact on cost, schedule, and technical performance.
  • Recommend new approaches, tools, and techniques that drive continuous improvement in technical development processes.
  • Mentor product development teams in the use of appropriate processes and tools throughout product development to improve product quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Travel domestically (10% of time)
