About The Position

Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi is seeking three advanced, highly technical Information Technology professionals to design, implement, and maintain complex business systems that interface mainframe applications and databases to process claims and facilitate member benefits through an Interplan Teleprocessing System (ITS). Each role supports a distinct operational function that heavily interfaces with ITS. As a senior technical advisor and member of the applications management team, the Senior Systems Analyst bridges business needs and technical solutions, providing expertise in software, hardware, and network infrastructure. The Analyst serves as a technical subject matter expert, maintains systems, provides production on-call support and technical issue resolution, and implements software releases. The role analyzes business needs and develops technical solutions, including complex coding structures, so claims-system modifications meet business objectives and customer expectations. It guides project teams and workflows, provides consultative support, manages software and system updates, and assists after implementation. The Analyst maintains current systems documentation and conducts system integration testing, user acceptance testing, and regression analysis. The position calls for an agile communicator who can explain technical information to non-technical users, think strategically about sustainable solutions, and identify root causes rather than symptoms. The work environment includes an onsite walking track, gym, and café, as well as monthly Team Blue events. Requirements

Bachelor of Science in computer science, mathematics, or a related field.
Seven years of experience in mainframe programming with COBOL, MVS utilities, MVS JCL, and CICS Command Level programming.
Five years of experience with mainframe systems analysis and design.
Development proficiency in COBOL programs that interact with DB2 databases.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Availability to provide 24x7 support in an after-hours, weekend, and holiday on-call rotation.
Ability to explain technical information to non-technical users and adapt communication when information is not understood.
Ability to approach complex problems strategically, assess sustainable solutions, and identify root causes.

Nice To Haves

Proficiency with PowerPoint and Visio.
Experience with Linux scripts and/or C programming.
Working familiarity with Easytrieve.

Responsibilities

Analyze business needs and create technical solutions, including complex coding structures, to ensure claims-system modifications meet business objectives and customer expectations.
Guide project teams, oversee project workflows, and provide consultative support.
Manage implementation of software and system updates and provide post-implementation assistance.
Ensure systems documentation is updated and current.
