Senior Systems Administrator

About The Position

Support strategic IT initiatives across the organization by designing, testing, and analyzing processing systems that align with user needs and system specifications. Partner with senior systems administrators and key stakeholders to strengthen system administration, data architecture, reporting, and data controls while evaluating the effectiveness of core systems and translating business requirements into reliable solutions. Install, administer, upgrade, patch, and performance-tune Oracle and other core databases, and research, recommend, implement, maintain, and document software and network solutions. Provide responsive technical support to end users and IT staff, assist with vendor product and service evaluations, and work professionally with auditors, examiners, and regulatory agencies to support secure, effective, and compliant operations.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in information technology or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
At least five years of experience administering IT systems
Hands-on experience with Oracle databases
Administrative or supervisory experience
Valid driver’s license
Hands-on systems engineering experience leading projects from initial concept through planning and implementation
Proficiency in network operating systems
Proficiency in Windows and Linux server and workstation administration
Proficiency in Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy
Proficiency in operating system and network security
Proficiency in data communication protocols, standards, and hardware
Proficiency in SQL Developer and scripting
Proficiency in enterprise technologies such as SAN, clustering, backup, and recovery solutions
Collaborative, resourceful problem-solver
Ability to work effectively with minimal direction
Ability to troubleshoot complex issues
Ability to move quickly toward practical solutions
Ability to partner well with others to keep software and systems reliable, available, and aligned with business objectives and operational needs

Responsibilities

Designing, testing, and analyzing processing systems
Strengthening system administration, data architecture, reporting, and data controls
Evaluating the effectiveness of core systems
Translating business requirements into reliable solutions
Installing, administering, upgrading, patching, and performance-tuning Oracle and other core databases
Researching, recommending, implementing, maintaining, and documenting software and network solutions
Providing responsive technical support to end users and IT staff
Assisting with vendor product and service evaluations
Working professionally with auditors, examiners, and regulatory agencies
Leading multiple initiatives from requirements discovery through implementation
Coordinating third-party integrations
Creating and executing regression test plans for core system releases
Reporting discrepancies
Guiding stakeholders and teammates throughout each project
Managing Fiserv and other vendor service cases
Maintaining user access
Monitoring and troubleshooting daily, nightly, month-end, and year-end processing
Responding to outages or escalations affecting critical business functions
Improving system performance, compliance, availability, and recoverability through documentation, process verification, automation, and evaluation of emerging technologies
Mentoring team members
Helping process owners solve challenges using business rules and performance insights
Informing branches, departments, management, and the Network Engineer of key activities and significant issues
Building professional relationships with vendors
Resolving vendor concerns promptly
Completing required documentation and special projects
Maintaining a regular and predictable schedule
