The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Radiology is seeking a PACS Senior Systems Administrator to serve as the primary Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). This position is responsible for the day-to-day administration and operational support of PACS, including image workflow, archiving, auto-routing, diagnostic viewing workstations, prefetching, and other core imaging system functions. The role requires advanced knowledge of radiology workflows, DICOM imaging standards, interoperability, and end-user support to ensure reliable, high-quality imaging operations. The PACS Senior Systems Administrator works closely with imaging teams across multiple departments to ensure the accurate capture, storage, and availability of diagnostic-quality images within the enterprise PACS environment, providing reliable access to imaging systems 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This position also coordinates PACS support during facility go-live activities, integrates image processing and third-party applications into the PACS architecture, and serves as the primary support contact for orthopedic templating applications. The successful candidate will independently troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues, collaborate with Radiology field service engineers, and lead efforts to resolve image acquisition, storage, and system integration challenges to support exceptional patient care and clinical operations.
