Senior System Engineer - Odessa, TX
About The Position
The Systems Engineer designs, implements, and supports enterprise infrastructure systems to maintain high availability, performance, and security across the organization. The role focuses on VMware virtualization, Veeam backup and recovery, Active Directory administration, storage platforms, and support and optimization of virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), including Citrix-based solutions. Pure Storage experience is a strong plus, and Palo Alto firewall experience is highly desirable. The engineer works with networking and security teams, supports and upgrades server environments, contributes to major core infrastructure initiatives, and works independently and collaboratively in production environments.
Requirements
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in production environments.
- Ability to work independently and contribute effectively within a collaborative, cross-functional IT team.
Nice To Haves
- Pure Storage experience.
- Palo Alto firewall experience.
- Familiarity with infrastructure visibility and automation tools such as Infoblox, Faddom, and NetBrain.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and support enterprise infrastructure systems.
- Maintain, upgrade, and evolve core infrastructure to ensure stability, performance, and security.
- Upgrade and support server environments and assist with major core infrastructure initiatives.
- Administer VMware, Veeam, and Active Directory platforms.
- Support and optimize virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), including Citrix technologies.
- Collaborate with networking and security teams.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure issues and operate confidently in production environments.
