About The Position

The Senior System Administrator provides advanced system administration, technical oversight, troubleshooting, configuration management, and security support services to ensure the operational availability, integrity, security, and compliance of Joint Pathology Center (JPC) information systems.

Requirements

  • 5 years of system administration experience
  • Bachelors Degree in information technology, computer science, cybersecurity, engineering, or related field
  • Active certification meeting Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce (CSWF)/Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level II requirements (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+, CND, GSEC, GICSP, SSCP)
  • Excellent experience performing system monitoring, troubleshooting, and configuration tasks
  • Excellent experience performing routine system administration and maintenance tasks
  • Excellent experience with Windows Server environments (2016, 2019, 2022)
  • Excellent experience with Linux-based medical devices and network-connected peripherals
  • Experience with both physical and virtualized servers (e.g., VMWare)
  • Excellent experience with Microsoft Enterprise Configuration Management (MECM/SCCM)
  • Experience leading system migrations, modernization efforts, and hardware/software upgrades
  • Experience with virtualization environments (e.g., vSphere)
  • Experience with enterprise storage solutions (e.g., NetApp, OneFS)
  • Experience supporting a federal agency
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem solving and analytical thinking skills
  • Ability to work independently on complex issues
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance
  • Ability to obtain DoD Top Secret Clearance as needed
  • U.S. Citizenship

Responsibilities

  • Ensures full operational capability of JPC information systems, including Windows Server environments (2016, 2019, 2022), Linux-based medical devices, and networked peripherals
  • Designs, configures, and maintains DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, and advanced Group Policy environments
  • Oversees Microsoft Enterprise Configuration Management (MECM/SCCM) operations
  • Deploys, manages, and troubleshoots VMware virtualization environments, including vSphere
  • Performs administration and optimization of enterprise storage solutions, including NetApp, OneFS, or equivalent systems
  • Ensures virtual and physical infrastructure supports mission performance and scalability
  • Performs site-level Cisco networking administration, including VLAN configuration and troubleshooting
  • Manages server and application certificates, including TLS/SSL certificate lifecycle and issue resolution
  • Implements, validates, and maintains Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliance across servers and end-user devices
  • Tracks, remediates, and reports Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM)/Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA) compliance status to ensure continued Authorization to Operate (ATO)
  • Supports Certification and Accreditation (C&A)/Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities as assigned
  • Leads system migrations, major hardware and software upgrades, and infrastructure optimization initiatives
  • Plans and executes migration of servers and technologies to DoD-approved cloud environments
  • Supports integration of specialized systems, including digital medical and imaging platforms, as required
  • Develops and maintains system documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), diagrams, and configuration baselines
  • Provides regular status updates and technical reports to the Contracting Officer (COR) regarding system health, risks, and project progress
