Employee Experience and Productivity (EEP) is part of IS&T and delivers some of the most widely used communication and productivity technology and services across Apple — from tools that enable collaboration to the support teams that keep Apple's workforce running. EEP also leads user experience design and research, and manages the systems behind Apple's original content studios. Within this team is Employee Engagement & Engineering, a small, global team that quickly delivers with long-term vision, building durable, reliable systems meant to last. Our focus is on crafting high-quality, user-centred experiences — delivering AI and system interoperability to make every interaction intuitive, seamless, and genuinely useful for the people who rely on our tools. You collaborate with a small team on the technical strategy for how native applications are imagined, built, integrated, and evolved across our platforms. You shape multi-year direction for the team's platform architecture, establish engineering practices that raise the quality bar, and lead the resolution of the most complex challenges — those that span multiple systems and carry broad impact on the employee experience. You collaborate directly with leadership, and represent the team in cross-functional technical forums. You are expected to grow the next generation of engineers through mentorship, well crafted code, and technical leadership by example. Your influence defines how the platform evolves and how applications are experienced by thousands of Apple employees worldwide.

Requirements

Deep proficiency in Swift and SwiftUI, with demonstrated experience shipping polished, production applications on macOS, iOS, or iPadOS
Solid understanding of Apple platform frameworks (Combine, Swift Concurrency, SwiftData, App Intents) and system interoperability patterns
Experience with RESTful API integration, networking patterns, and data architecture for client applications
Demonstrated ability to lead technical design and mentor other engineers
B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience

Experience with AI integration patterns and platform interoperability at an architectural level
Deep understanding of user experience quality — you set the bar for how applications should feel
History of driving technical innovation with broad adoption across a team or organisation
Experience shaping engineering culture around quality, inclusion, and technical growth
Deep familiarity with Apple's AI frameworks (Core ML, Foundation Models, MLX) and system integration capabilities (App Intents, extensions)

Responsibilities

Lead the architecture and implementation of native macOS, iOS, and iPadOS applications in Swift and SwiftUI, with a relentless focus on user experience quality
Design and build features that leverage AI to enhance usability — surfacing intelligence contextually, reducing manual effort, and making complex workflows feel effortless
Drive deep platform interoperability — integrating with system services, other Apple applications, and internal APIs to create connected, seamless experiences
Own features end-to-end: from user research and concept exploration through implementation, testing, deployment, and iteration based on real usage
Define and uphold engineering standards for Swift/SwiftUI codebases — architecture patterns, testing strategies, accessibility, performance, and localisation
Evaluate and integrate Apple platform capabilities (Core ML, Foundation Models framework, App Intents, Shortcuts, extensions) to make applications feel native and interconnected
Partner with product managers and business stakeholders to identify where AI and automation can meaningfully improve the employee experience
Mentor and develop engineers in Swift, SwiftUI, and experience-driven development through code review, design feedback, and technical guidance
Influence technical direction across teams — articulating trade-offs between user experience fidelity, AI capability, and engineering complexity
Contribute to hiring: interview candidates and calibrate the technical and design quality bar
