About The Position

KBR's National Security Solutions team provides high-end engineering and advanced technology solutions to customers in the intelligence and national security communities. This position supports a Space Systems Command (SSC) Program Management Office (PMO) at Peterson Space Force Base (PSFB), CO, conducting Operations & Sustainment (O&S) for satellite communications (SATCOM) and Nuclear Command, Control and Communications (NC3) systems. The role requires an experienced, proactive Systems Engineer who can learn autonomously and work collaboratively in small teams to address technical challenges for legacy and transitioning space-based telecommunication capabilities. This is an engineering management position that requires technical acumen and the ability to manage technical baselines using established government systems engineering, integration & test (SEIT) processes and procedures. The successful candidate will join the MSEIT Sustainment Integrated Product Team (IPT) to support Joint and Allied combat readiness using MILSATCOM and NC3 space systems. The MSEIT effort provides Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) for the Space Force’s Space Systems Command, supporting the acquisition of Military Satellite Communications systems. The work environment is highly collaborative, utilizing modern tools and methodologies for complex space and ground communications systems integration.

Requirements

  • Active DoW SECRET clearance required to be considered for this position
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science or equivalent technical discipline from an accredited university
  • 12+ years of experience in a DoW program office with an understanding of DoW acquisition processes
  • 12+ years of experience working with strategic & tactical MILSATCOM space systems
  • 2+ years’ experience in program/project management
  • Expertise with requirements development and analysis and the development of systems engineering-related documents
  • Experience with Systems Modeling Language (SysML) and Model Based Systems Engineering tools such as Cameo and/or Rhapsody
  • Experience with risk identification, risk management and development of mitigation strategies
  • Knowledge of Agile software development processes and applications (i.e., Jira/Confluence)
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective interpersonal and team-player skills
  • Clear and concise written, verbal communications and presentation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)

Nice To Haves

  • Possess knowledge of Agile software development processes and applications (e.g., Jira/Confluence)
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM) experience and/or Scrum Master (SSM) Certification
  • Experience managing hardware/software configuration control and Quality Assurance (QA) compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 20001, ITIL, CMMI Level 3)
  • Experience supporting government defense contracts and tracking of Integrated Master Schedules (IMS)
  • High-performing, self-motivated decision-maker with a proven track record of leading cross-functional IPTs
  • Direct experience with Change Management and Configuration Management (CM) processes and managing technical artifacts, digital pipelines, and configuration control for agile software development

  • Coordinate with numerous stakeholders/customers from DoW agencies to commercial industry that translate to tangible, positive, mission-focused results
  • Learn and apply established government SEIT processes and procedures in support of MILSATCOM and NC3 O&S activities
  • Develop, analyze and maintain systems engineering documentation and capability requirements to ensure alignment with mission objectives and continuous readiness
  • Apply Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) frameworks and DoW acquisition best practices to daily program office operations, directly advancing strategic and tactical MILSATCOM space systems
