About The Position

KBR's National Security Solutions team provides high-end engineering and advanced technology solutions to customers in the intelligence and national security communities. This position supports a Space Systems Command (SSC) Program Management Office (PMO) at Peterson Space Force Base (PSFB), CO, conducting Operations & Sustainment (O&S) activities for state-of-the-art Military and Commercial Satellite Communications (SATCOM) and Nuclear Command, Control and Communications (NC3) systems. The role requires an experienced, proactive Systems Engineer who is a self-starter capable of autonomous learning and growth within a collaborative team environment. The ideal candidate will tackle technical challenges and drive executable solutions for legacy and transitioning strategic and tactical space-based telecommunication capabilities. This is an engineering management position requiring technical acumen and the ability to proactively engage and effectively manage technical baselines using established government systems engineering, integration & test (SEIT) processes and procedures to advance O&S activities. The position is part of the MILSATCOM Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (MSEIT) effort, which provides Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) for the Space Force’s Space Systems Command, supporting the acquisition of state-of-the-art Military Satellite Communications systems.

Requirements

  • Active DoW SECRET clearance required to be considered for this position
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science or equivalent technical discipline from an accredited university
  • 12+ years of experience in a DoW program office with an understanding of DoW acquisition processes
  • 12+ years of experience working with strategic & tactical MILSATCOM space systems
  • 2+ years’ experience in program/project management
  • Expertise with requirements development and analysis and the development of systems engineering-related documents
  • Experience with Systems Modeling Language (SysML) and Model Based Systems Engineering tools such as Cameo and/or Rhapsody
  • Experience with risk identification, risk management and development of mitigation strategies
  • Knowledge of Agile software development processes and applications (i.e., Jira/Confluence)
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective interpersonal and team-player skills
  • Clear and concise written, verbal communications and presentation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)

Nice To Haves

  • Possess knowledge of Agile software development processes and applications (e.g., Jira/Confluence);
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM) experience and/or Scrum Master (SSM) Certification
  • Experience managing hardware/software configuration control and Quality Assurance (QA) compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 20001, ITIL, CMMI Level 3).
  • Experience supporting government defense contracts and tracking of Integrated Master Schedules (IMS).
  • High-performing, self-motivated decision-maker with a proven track record of leading cross-functional IPTs
  • Direct experience with Change Management and Configuration Management (CM) processes and managing technical artifacts, digital pipelines, and configuration control for agile software development.

  • Coordinate with numerous stakeholders/customers from DoW agencies to commercial industry that translate to tangible, positive, mission-focused results
  • Learn and apply established government SEIT processes and procedures in support of MILSATCOM and NC3 O&S activities
  • Develop, analyze and maintain systems engineering documentation and capability requirements to ensure alignment with mission objectives and continuous readiness
  • Apply Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) frameworks and DoW acquisition best practices to daily program office operations, directly advancing strategic and tactical MILSATCOM space systems
