About The Position

The Senior Surveyor (Stations) provides technical leadership for all surveying operations within one or more subway stations. Responsibilities include supervising field crews, preparing precise layout information, validating collected data, and coordinating with design, construction, and stakeholder teams to ensure survey deliverables meet project standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in construction surveying, preferably in subway stations and/or heavy civil or transit infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of surveying methods, control network implementation, and data management.
  • Proficiency with AutoDesk Civil 3D, GNSS, total stations, leveling, and related software tools.
  • Experience reviewing design drawings, preparing layout files, and verifying as-built conditions.
  • Familiarity with Leica survey equipment and associated field and office software.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate multiple crews and tasks.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills for coordination with engineers, designers, and subcontractors.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary education in Surveying, Geomatics, or Civil Engineering.
  • Experience on Metrolinx or major transit infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with AutoDesk Revit is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Leica Infinity, Cyclone, MicroSurvey StarNet, or GeoLab is an asset.
  • Exposure to UAV or 3D scanning workflows is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee daily survey operations within the subway station project area.
  • Supervise field survey crews, including task assignments, schedules, and quality control.
  • Prepare, review, and validate layout data, as-built information, and digital survey deliverables.
  • Ensure proper setup, use, and maintenance of survey instruments and equipment.
  • Validate design drawings and project models, preparing accurate data for field installation.
  • Maintain and verify the project control network in coordination with the survey team.
  • Conduct office-based QA/QC on field-collected data to ensure compliance with project tolerances and standards.
  • Perform field checks, layout verification, and dimensional control as required.
  • Maintain accurate survey records, daily logs, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for coordination with engineers, designers, construction teams, and subcontractors.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving field or data discrepancies.
  • Support safe work practices and compliance with project safety policies and quality standards.
