About The Position

DOF is a world-class offshore construction support, survey, and IRM contractor, providing integrated offshore services to global energy producers. DOF Canada is seeking a detailed-oriented and client-focused Senior Surveyor to join their expanding survey team in Paradise, NL. This role supports ongoing long-term multi-year international and local projects. A key aspect of this position is the ability to collaborate effectively with both offshore and onshore personnel. The Senior Surveyor will report directly to the Project Manager. This opportunity offers a dynamic environment for learning and career growth within DOF Canada.

Requirements

  • Post Secondary Education in Hydrographic Survey or Geomatics degree or similar education (Experience can compensate for lack of formal competency.)
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Surveyor
  • Key experience in acting Senior Surveyor or Senior Surveyor duties
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Packages - Word/Excel/PowerPoint and Document Control Systems
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Excellent communicator, reader, and writer
  • Leadership Communication
  • Successful candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment drug and alcohol screening

Responsibilities

  • Supervising checking and testing of survey equipment and software prior to project
  • Coordinating the mobilisation of survey equipment and software on vessels
  • Must have a full understanding of the flow of data from the calibration at the project mobilization, through the logging and quality control of all data
  • Development of project procedures and assist in project preparation
  • Assist with management of day-to-day field operations
  • Responsible for the fulfilment of the contractual requirements regarding recording, quality, and accuracy of field data
  • Responsible for performing the fieldwork as economically as possible, taking into account the requirements of both the Client and DOF Subsea
  • Ensure that all survey equipment in use has been calibrated and that the relevant calibration procedures are complied with
  • Checking that the correct calibration values are in use and that any relevant documentation is kept up to date
  • Ensure that the collection of data is in accordance with ‘good survey practice’ and approved procedures and instructions
  • Ensure that the quality of data is consistent and of a proper standard
  • Monitor real-time displays, and examine calibration and data plots and charts/maps
  • Management of project work scope and adhering to the contractual aspects of the project offshore
  • Provide guidance and supervise the Offshore survey team
  • Ensure all personnel meet the company requirements for operational capability, competence, health, and safety
  • Communicate, on a daily basis, with the Party Chief
  • Liaising with client representatives and senior vessel/ROV crew
  • Accountable for delegation of responsibility in accordance with company procedures, when appropriate
  • Must complete daily/end of project reporting
  • Responsible for Offshore QHSE
  • Implement and maintain survey standards throughout offshore operations
  • A full appreciation of the survey deliverables is required so that on completion of a project, all data will be backed up and submitted to the Project Manager/Onshore team in the agreed DOF Subsea formats
  • Liaise with the Party Chief to ensure a complete understanding of the commercial impact of all decisions made offshore
