About The Position

We are seeking a Senior Surveyor / Mapper to support the Florida Turnpike Enterprise (FTE) General Engineering Consultant (GEC) Program and join our team in Ocoee, FL to lead and work on various projects. Your role will involve assisting the Turnpike Surveyor as a direct extension of staff, providing project review support and coordination with surveying and mapping consultants. You will also coordinate and perform ROW mapping updates, maintain Turnpike data and project records and archives, and promote the utilization of innovative survey techniques to save time and money on proposed projects. Additionally, you will provide input to the Turnpike Surveyor regarding potential policy manual revisions, survey efforts associated with projects, project status updates, and any project issues. You will assist in the preparation of Scope of Services and staff hour estimates for new contracts and Supplemental Agreements, coordinate with the Project Manager on units and staff hour meetings, and with other technical disciplines to provide a multidiscipline approach to negotiations. You will coordinate work with and support other engineers and professionals within and outside your own discipline, with survey and mapping expertise. You will record review comments in the Electronic Review Comments (ERC) system and confirm compliance to comments with responses and subsequent submittals. Special assignments may arise that require research on a special topic and may result in providing a report and/or exhibit to support your conclusion. You will review project survey deliverables for accuracy and completeness, including geodetic control, design and right of way survey, mapping and legal descriptions using industry software. You will provide quality assurance and ensure compliance with FDOT standards, client requirements, and applicable regulations. You will also coordinate with project managers, engineers, consultant surveyors, and external stakeholders to ensure survey data supports design activities.

Requirements

  • Professional Surveyor & Mapper (PSM) license required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in surveying, Geomatics, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Typically, 15–20 years of experience in surveying and mapping.
  • Proven organizational, technical writing and communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of FDOT survey standards, right-of-way mapping, and transportation project requirements.
  • Proficiency in survey and mapping software (e.g., MicroStation, OpenRoads, Civil 3D, GIS platforms).
  • Excellent organizational, technical writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work under deadlines.
