About The Position

Peraton is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to support the FAA’s Brand New Air Traffic Control System (BNATCS) and help modernize surveillance and radar technologies used in the National Airspace System. The role applies systems engineering expertise to surveillance systems, system integration, and performance analysis in support of NAS safety and reliability. The position is based in Herndon, Virginia, with telework and hybrid flexibility. The salary range is $104,000–$166,000; pay is determined by factors including responsibilities, experience, education, skills, location, and business and contract considerations. Employees may also be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus, depending on the position.

Requirements

• Extensive experience with aviation surface radar or surveillance technologies and FAA programs.
• 12 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree, or an additional 4 years of experience without the degree.
• Strong foundation in requirements analysis, system integration, and testing.
• U.S. citizenship.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead systems engineering activities throughout the system lifecycle, including requirements development, design, integration, verification, and validation.
• Apply expertise in FAA surveillance and radar systems to evaluate performance, resolve technical challenges, and support modernization initiatives.
• Develop and assess system architectures, engineering concepts, trade studies, and technical analyses to optimize performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with FAA stakeholders, engineering teams, and cross-functional partners to meet system requirements and program objectives.
• Develop and present technical documentation, reports, and recommendations to support engineering decisions and program execution.
• Contribute to trade studies and analyses under the mentorship of senior engineers.
• Participate in system-level reviews and provide hands-on support for integration and testing activities.
