About The Position

The Senior Supply Chain Specialist supports global clinical supply chain activities for Gilead clinical trials by translating study requirements into supply planning, inventory, distribution, and operational execution needs. This role works collaboratively across Global Clinical Supply Chain, Clinical Operations, Regulatory, Quality, PDM, Logistics, external vendors, and other stakeholders to support compliant, on-time, and patient-focused delivery of investigational medicinal products (IMP) and related clinical supply deliverables. The role requires strong planning, communication, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to work across organizational, cultural, and geographic boundaries in a fast-paced global environment. The Senior Supply Chain Specialist is expected to exercise independent judgment, support process improvements, contribute to cross-functional execution plans, and escalate risks or issues as appropriate.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of relevant experience in related field and a BS or BA; or 4+ years of relevant experience and a MA/MBA/MS; or 2+ years of relevant experience and a MA/MBA.
  • Strong working knowledge of clinical supply management, including forecasting, demand and supply planning, distribution strategies, IVRS/IRT, ERP systems, and depot inventory management.
  • Working knowledge of clinical study designs, blinding practices, global trials, and supply considerations from early phase through late phase clinical development.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate, influence, and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and external suppliers to meet clinical development timelines and patient needs.
  • Ability to work effectively with ambiguity, assess options, solve moderately complex problems, and recommend practical solutions aligned with business priorities and functional expectations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, analytical, planning, organizational, time management, and project coordination skills.
  • Proficiency with business systems and tools, including SAP or similar ERP functionality, IVRS/IRT, QMS, Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, databases, and other systems used to manage supply chain requirements.
  • Understanding of GMP, GDP, GxP , global trade compliance, SOPs, controlled documentation, inspection readiness, and regulated clinical supply environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting Clinical Demand and Operations Planning , clinical packaging and labeling planning, comparator drugs, non-Gilead study drugs, or other co-medications is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interprets clinical study protocols, dosing schema, and study assumptions to support IMP demand planning, supply planning, distribution strategy, depot inventory management, and study-level execution plans.
  • Translates demand forecasts into clinical packaging, labeling, depot, site seeding, and resupply needs in support of clinical development timelines.
  • Partners with Logistics, Quality Assurance, Clinical Operations, Regulatory, PDM, GCSC colleagues, and external partners to execute supply plans, resolve shipment or supply-related issues, and escalate risks as needed.
  • Maintains inventory visibility, supports depot reconciliation, monitors clinical supply incidents, and assists with root cause assessment, trend reporting, and CAPA-related activities in partnership with Quality Assurance.
  • Performs activities in Gilead systems, including SAP, IVRS/IRT, QMS, and other applicable tools, to enable compliant and efficient progression of IMP through the supply chain.
  • Supports review and reconciliation of contracts, quotes, purchase orders, invoices, material transfer requests, and other operational documents that may impact study budgets or timelines.
  • Authors, updates, or supports SOPs, work instructions, business process documentation, data flows, training materials, regulatory filing support, inspection readiness, clinical study report deliverables, and trial master file requirements as applicable.
  • Ensures adherence to GDP, GMP, GxP , global trade compliance, safe work practices, current SOPs, and required training expectations.
  • Analyzes systems, processes, and business performance impacts; contributes to process improvements, tools, and technology adoption to support operational efficiency and department objectives.
  • Assists in project planning, tracks deliverables, manages assigned activities to timely completion, and supports supply chain planning initiatives to achieve departmental targets.
  • Works across organizational, cultural, and geographic boundaries to support business priorities, strengthen cross-functional alignment, and optimize supply chain outcomes.
  • May provide technical support, training, and guidance to less experienced colleagues and support prioritization of assigned activities.
