Senior Supplier Quality Engineer

Integra•Houston, TX

About The Position

The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer leads supplier quality activities to ensure purchased materials, services, components, and assemblies meet the company’s quality, technical, delivery, and performance expectations. This senior technical role covers supplier qualification and development, nonconformance resolution, corrective-action effectiveness, and risk mitigation. It partners with suppliers and internal Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Quality, and Quality teams to build supplier capability, prevent repeat defects, and improve supplier performance and cost of poor quality. The role leads supplier assessments, audits, qualification, onboarding, and advanced quality planning. It evaluates supplier quality systems, manufacturing capability, process controls, capacity, and compliance, and makes approval and risk recommendations. The engineer monitors supplier performance, leads supplier reviews and improvement planning, and directs containment, disposition, root-cause analysis, corrective action, and effectiveness verification for supplier-related issues. The position serves as a technical interface between suppliers and internal teams; reviews and approves first-article, production-part approval, inspection, test, and other supplier quality documentation; and verifies that supplier process controls remain effective. It also improves supplier quality processes, supports strategic supplier development initiatives, and mentors supplier quality engineers or cross-functional team members as needed. Domestic and international travel may be required, with a typical expectation of 10–30%.

  • Strong knowledge of supplier quality tools and methods, including supplier audits, advanced quality planning, control plans, FAI/PPAP or equivalent approval processes, root-cause analysis, corrective action, process capability, measurement system analysis, and risk-based supplier management.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, specifications, tolerances, test requirements, inspection plans, and supplier manufacturing process documentation.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and supplier relationship management skills, including the ability to lead cross-functional discussions, communicate technical requirements clearly, and drive accountability without direct authority.
  • Ability to lead complex supplier quality investigations, facilitate structured problem-solving, present data-driven recommendations, and manage multiple supplier improvement priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Serve as a primary technical interface between suppliers and internal Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Project Quality, and Quality teams.
  • Communicate requirements, support design-for-manufacturability and supplier-readiness discussions, and incorporate supplier feedback into risk mitigation and continuous improvement.
  • Review and approve first-article inspection reports, production-part approvals, inspection records, test documentation, and supplier quality documentation for new suppliers, new parts, engineering changes, or first-time builds.
  • Ensure critical supplier processes have adequate process documentation, inspection plans, measurement systems, special-process controls, traceability, control plans, and process-capability evidence; verify their effectiveness throughout manufacturing.
  • Improve supplier qualification, onboarding, supplier development, corrective-action, and supplier-management processes.
  • Mentor supplier quality engineers or cross-functional team members as needed and contribute to standard work, tools, templates, and quality-system improvements.
  • Support strategic supplier development initiatives, including risk-based supplier segmentation, improvement roadmaps, process audits, scorecard governance, and cross-functional problem-solving.
