Senior Supplier Integration Engineer

Tern Travel
$175,000 - $200,000

About The Position

Tern is seeking a Senior Supplier Integration Engineer to join their integrations squad. This role is crucial for expanding the company's bookable inventory by adding new supplier integrations, particularly in cruise, lodging, and insurance. The engineer will own integrations end-to-end, from initial API conversations to production monitoring, working closely with the integration lead. This position involves taking underdocumented APIs and transforming them into reliable, observable systems that advisors can use for booking. The role is a player position within a small, focused team, emphasizing weekly shipping, production ownership, and contributing to patterns and tooling for faster future integrations. Tern is a venture-backed software company aiming to reshape the travel agency industry by providing technology to small businesses that are often underserved. Their platform helps travel advisors operate more efficiently and profitably, while also promoting more intentional and responsible travel.

  • Experience turning unreliable, poorly documented external APIs into dependable systems.
  • Specific examples of using AI to make work faster or better, with the judgment to critically evaluate AI output.
  • Fluency with Ruby on Rails or a comparable MVC stack.
  • Experience with travel industry APIs such as GDS, booking systems, or supplier data feeds is a plus.
