About The Position

This position is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of team members engaged in hatching, chick pulling, vaccinating, and egg handling operations involving Cobb eggs and chicks. This is an entry-level professional position responsible for supervising an individual or a small group of non-exempt team members, including clerical, administrative, and production employees. Responsibilities include providing training and coaching to team members, monitoring work quality and performance, supporting team member development and performance improvement, and maintaining responsibility for the quality of results produced by the team. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and evaluate alternatives in situations that are not covered by established written procedures.

Requirements

  • College degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Limited related experience required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must be able to prepare reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals using available computer programs.
  • Required to travel domestically four (4) or more times per year.
  • The worksite is a biosecure environment and requires showering before entering the facility. Multiple showers throughout the workday may also be required.
  • Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company.
  • No jewelry may be worn on the job site except approved medical identification jewelry.
  • Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid contact with avian species, including chickens, ducks, and other birds.
  • The Company Animal Welfare Policy must be followed at all times.
  • Must use safe lifting techniques at all times.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, talk, and hear.
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Team members are expected to follow all required safety procedures and wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising and coordinating the activities of team members engaged in hatching, chick pulling, vaccinating, and egg handling operations involving Cobb eggs and chicks.
  • Ensure the accuracy and compliance of customer egg-packing shipments.
  • Serve as Back-Up for all Night Shift responsibilities.
  • Ensure the quality and effectiveness of hatchery sanitation programs.
  • Maintain a general understanding of hatchery maintenance procedures.
  • Perform duties related to nightly chick pull responsibilities.
  • Ensure customer order accuracy and product quality.
  • Supervise biosecurity procedures and perform all necessary steps to maintain biosecurity standards.
  • Perform and/or supervise routine quality control procedures.
  • Interpret company policies for team members and support safety programs and training initiatives.
  • Providing training and coaching to team members.
  • Monitoring work quality and performance.
  • Supporting team member development and performance improvement.
  • Maintaining responsibility for the quality of results produced by the team.
  • Directly supervise approximately 10 or more hourly team members.
