About The Position

GTI is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to design and analyze large steel structures for custom modular and industrial applications. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys solving complex structural problems and seeing their designs move from calculations and analysis through fabrication and field deployment. Engineers with backgrounds in industrial structures, structural steel, power generation, oil & gas, equipment structures, bridges, transmission structures, heavy fabrication, or similar applications are encouraged to apply. This position is remote with travel up to approximately 25% to support manufacturing facilities, projects, and field activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of hands-on structural engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated experience personally performing structural calculations and steel design.
  • Experience designing structural steel members and welded and/or bolted connections.
  • Working knowledge of AISC and applicable structural design codes.
  • Experience with structural analysis software such as RISA, STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, or similar.
  • Ability to develop practical designs that can be fabricated and built.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with industrial structures, modular construction, equipment supports, skids, enclosures, heavy fabrication, power generation, oil & gas, transmission structures, bridges, or similar steel structures.
  • Experience working directly with fabrication or manufacturing teams.
  • SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD experience.
  • Experience with lifting, transportation, fatigue, dynamic, wind, or seismic analysis.
  • Experience supporting structures from initial design through fabrication and field installation.
  • NCEES Record and/or ability to obtain PE licensure in additional states.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze structural steel frames, platforms, equipment supports, welded assemblies, enclosures, and modular structures.
  • Perform and document structural calculations, including member sizing, connections, load paths, and structural capacity.
  • Evaluate static, dynamic, wind, seismic, fatigue, lifting, transportation, and equipment loads as applicable.
  • Develop and validate structural models using RISA, STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, or similar analysis software.
  • Design and evaluate welded and bolted connections and support development of fabrication-ready details.
  • Apply applicable codes and standards, including AISC, ASCE 7, IBC, and AWS D1.1.
  • Work directly with mechanical engineers, designers, fabricators, quality, manufacturing, and project teams to turn concepts into buildable designs.
  • Review drawings, shop details, fabrication issues, and field conditions and provide practical engineering solutions.
  • Support prototype/first-build activities, structural validation, installation, and field modifications when needed.
  • Help develop structural engineering standards, calculation methods, and design practices as GTI continues to grow.
