About The Position

In the role of Senior Structural Engineer (Water), we'll count on you to serve as a technical expert with recognized authority in structural engineering as it relates to projects; resolve problems of greater scope and complexity. Prior experience with water / wastewater projects is essential. You will plan and develop projects or design activities, and plan, organize and supervise the work of a medium to large staff of professionals and technicians. You may serve as Project Manager on larger projects, though project management is not the sole focus of the position. You will independently coordinate the work of the structural design team from schematic design through the design development and contract document phases of a project. You will collaborate as part of a multi-disciplinary team (architecture, MEP engineering, civil engineering, etc.) to lead the production of the structural deliverables for projects. You will mentor and train structural interns and EITs within the department and across business groups. You will coordinate workload throughout the design phases to complete the documents on schedule. You will perform construction administration (CA) tasks such as submittal review, respond to requests for information (RFI’s) and other coordination tasks with contractors in the field during construction. You will coordinate and assist with affected disciplines, with any addendum, change proposal requests and change orders, and incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents. You will write and edit structural specifications, select procedures, materials and their respective sizes, and complete necessary calculations. You will perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • A minimum of 10 years structural engineering experience as it relates to building design
  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar analytical software
  • Experience in design calculations and layouts
  • Ability to design and detail in steel, concrete, masonry and wood
  • Requires understanding of gravity analysis and lateral analysis
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Architectural Engineering, Structural emphasis
  • Experience with Structural Engineering or projects serving Water and Wastewater Clients
  • A minimum of 10+ years of structural engineering experience preferred
