About The Position

The Senior Strategy Director plays a central role in shaping how the agency thinks, plans, and delivers impact for clients. This role is responsible for defining strategic direction across priority accounts and ensuring that media, creative, SEO, CRM, web, and analytics teams are aligned to a unified business objective. This role requires an insight-driven mindset and the ability to translate complex business challenges into clear strategic direction. The Senior Strategy Director will guide growth diagnosis, define strategic priorities, and create the connective tissue across disciplines that ensures execution consistently ladders up to clear intent and measurable outcomes. At our agency, strategy is not a service line, it is how we work. The Senior Strategy Director ensures that insight, planning, and decision-making are embedded throughout the lifecycle of our client partnerships.

Requirements

  • Strong experience developing integrated marketing strategies across multiple channels and disciplines.
  • Proven media strategy and planning experience, with the ability to architect full-funnel, multi-stage media plans that mature clients' programs beyond performance marketing into upper- and mid-funnel brand and demand strategies.
  • Ability to translate business objectives into clear strategic direction that guides cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to derive meaningful insights from performance data, research, and market intelligence.
  • Systems-thinking mindset with the ability to understand how messaging, channels, customer experience, and measurement connect.
  • Excellent storytelling and communication skills, able to frame complex ideas in a clear and compelling narrative.
  • Strong facilitation and collaboration skills, able to align cross-disciplinary teams around shared strategic priorities.
  • Executive presence and confidence when presenting strategic recommendations to senior client stakeholders.
  • Growth-oriented mindset with openness to feedback and continuous improvement.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple planning cycles and strategic initiatives simultaneously.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguous environments and bringing clarity to complex business challenges.
  • 5+ years of experience in marketing strategy, integrated strategy, brand strategy, media strategy/planning, or growth strategy within an agency or client-side environment.
  • Demonstrated experience building and evolving media strategies across the full customer journey, not limited to lower-funnel performance channels.
  • Demonstrated experience developing cross-channel, integrated marketing strategies.
  • Experience guiding annual planning, strategic roadmapping, and growth discussions with clients.
  • Experience collaborating across media, creative, digital experience, CRM, and analytics teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with AI tools is a core part of your role—not a nice-to-have.
  • Experiment continuously with AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Midjourney, Claude, Perplexity) to improve the speed, quality, and impact of your work (e.g., draft briefs, summarize research, analyze data trends, generate initial strategic frameworks, identify patterns in large datasets).
  • Proactively document and share what you learn—your prompts, process improvements, and use cases—so others can benefit and we can grow together.
  • Approach AI with an iterative mindset, refining how you apply it to your work over time. The first idea is rarely the best; testing, tweaking, and improving is part of the process.
  • Lean into discomfort, especially when tools or workflows feel unfamiliar. Growth happens when you're stretching beyond what's comfortable or routine.
  • Use AI as a force multiplier for creativity, strategy, and execution, not as a substitute for thoughtful work.

Nice To Haves

  • Industry experience in CPG or B2B is an asset but not required.
  • Experience in the education sector (for-profit and/or not-for-profit institutions) is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Direction for Priority Accounts: You’ll lead strategic direction on high-impact client engagements, ensuring that marketing activities align with clear business objectives and growth opportunities. You’ll guide discovery, develop strategy briefs, and translate business challenges into structured, actionable plans.
  • Strategic Planning & Roadmapping: You’ll contribute to annual and quarterly planning cycles by developing growth roadmaps tied to measurable outcomes. You’ll clarify priorities, define success metrics, and ensure teams are aligned around a shared understanding of strategic intent.
  • Strategy Brief Development: You’ll own the development of strategy briefs that define business objectives, growth priorities, audience insights, positioning, channel approach, investment logic, and measurement frameworks. These briefs will serve as the foundation that aligns cross-functional teams before execution begins.
  • Audience, Market & Category Insights: You’ll lead the development of audience insights, competitive analysis, and market intelligence that inform strategic recommendations. You’ll translate research and performance data into clear implications that guide decision-making across teams.
  • Channel Strategy & Investment Planning: You’ll bring deep media strategy and planning expertise to define channel mix, sequencing, and investment logic that support growth objectives — fuelling full-funnel media plans that mature clients’ media programs beyond performance marketing and extend coverage across every stage of the customer journey, from awareness through retention. You’ll collaborate with media, CRM, SEO, and digital experience leaders to ensure channel decisions and budget allocation are aligned with the broader strategic framework.
  • Measurement Frameworks & Performance Interpretation: You’ll establish measurement frameworks that define success before activation begins. You’ll help teams interpret performance signals, ensuring insights drive decisions rather than simply informing reporting.
  • Strategic Performance Storytelling: You’ll lead strategic narratives for Quarterly Business Reviews and planning discussions, articulating what happened, why it happened, what was learned, and what actions should follow. Your storytelling will connect data, insights, and business implications into clear recommendations.
  • Client Strategic Partnership: You’ll serve as a strategic partner for client stakeholders, confidently leading conversations around growth opportunities, planning priorities, and strategic recommendations. You’ll guide discussions beyond tactical execution toward long-term business impact.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Strategic Alignment: You’ll act as the connective tissue across media, creative, SEO, CRM, web, and analytics teams to ensure that strategy is consistently integrated into execution. You’ll align KPIs, messaging, channel strategies, and measurement frameworks to ensure clear business intent.
  • Strategy Enablement Across Teams: You’ll equip account and delivery teams with frameworks and guidance that elevate the quality and consistency of strategic thinking across the agency. Your work will help simplify planning and bring clarity to complex challenges.
  • Strategic Standards & Framework Development: You’ll contribute to the evolution of agency-wide strategy frameworks, playbooks, and planning tools. You’ll help embed strategy into briefs, planning cycles, and optimization rhythms so that it becomes a core operating discipline.
  • Thought Leadership & New Business Support: You’ll contribute to agency POVs, category playbooks, and growth narratives that strengthen our market differentiation. You’ll support new business opportunities through strategic storytelling and insight-driven positioning.
