About The Position

The Senior Strategist will serve as a trusted advisor to senior executives, providing expert-level support in strategy development, campaign planning, and congressional engagement. This role requires deep knowledge of defense and intelligence community equities, policy-making processes, and the political dynamics influencing national security priorities. The Senior Strategist will design and implement strategic engagement plans, prepare senior leaders for congressional testimony, and ensure alignment between messaging and organizational objectives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 7+ years advising senior military or civilian leaders in joint environments (e.g., Combatant Commands).
  • Proven track record supporting high-profile IC programs and congressional engagement.
  • Expert-level proficiency in drafting and tailoring materials for senior U.S. Government officials.
  • Compliance with all NGA, DoD, and IC security directives
  • Active TS/SCI clearance; willingness to undergo Counterintelligence Polygraph.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine NGA’s strategic engagement plan, including priorities, milestones, and performance metrics.
  • Conduct independent analysis, stakeholder mapping, and 360-degree assessments to inform decision-making.
  • Synchronize messaging across internal and external stakeholders to maintain consistency and clarity.
  • Create detailed campaign plans with schedules, measurable outcomes, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Lead red-team engagements to stress-test strategic concepts and refine approaches.
  • Prepare senior leaders for congressional testimony and high-visibility engagements.
  • Deliver tailored briefing materials, rehearsal storyboards, mock Q&A, and executive summaries.
  • Provide surge support for urgent, event-driven topics and respond within four hours to critical requests.
  • Support adoption of new systems, processes, and tools to improve workflow efficiency.
  • Implement quarterly strategic planning cycles using a Collect–Assess–Refine methodology.
  • Build and maintain relationships with congressional staff, oversight committees, and interagency partners.
  • Anticipate and address politically sensitive issues impacting NGA’s mission.
  • Other duties as assigned.
