Senior Strategic Purchasing Agent
About The Position
Walker Tape® is seeking a Senior Strategic Purchasing Agent to support our manufacturing operations through strong supplier management, cost control, and procurement process improvement. This role plays a key part in ensuring our production teams have the materials they need when they need them. The Senior Strategic Purchasing Agent will work closely with operations, quality, and finance teams to manage supplier relationships, negotiate pricing and contracts, and identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes and reduce costs. This is a hands-on role ideal for an experienced purchasing professional who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and enjoys building strong supplier partnerships while driving measurable results.
Requirements
- 5+ years of purchasing or sourcing experience in a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated experience negotiating supplier pricing, contracts, and terms
- Strong ERP experience (NetSuite experience preferred)
- Advanced Excel and data analysis skills
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a production-driven environment
- A proactive, detail-oriented professional with strong follow-through
Nice To Haves
- Experience supporting ISO 9001 or similar quality systems preferred
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships
- Lead RFQs and negotiate pricing, contracts, MOQs, and supplier terms
- Monitor supplier performance, delivery timelines, and quality standards
- Address supplier performance issues and coordinate resolution when needed
- Analyze and respond to supplier price increases
- Identify and execute cost savings initiatives
- Evaluate sourcing opportunities and alternative suppliers
- Track purchasing trends and pricing data to support strategic decisions
- Collaborate with leadership on purchasing strategies and supplier planning
- Maintain accurate purchasing records within ERP systems
- Monitor inventory levels and purchasing activity to support production schedules
- Partner with operations, quality, and finance teams to ensure alignment across departments
- Support ISO 9001 initiatives through supplier documentation and purchasing process discipline
