About The Position

The Strategic Account Manager is part of Abbott's Transfusion Medicine Business Unit, which enables the provision of safe blood and plasma products globally by supplying screening tests for transfusion-transmitted infectious diseases and other pathogens. The Strategic Account Manager will be responsible for managing Blood Banks, Plasma Centers, and National Reference Laboratory accounts across a multi-state territory. This role requires understanding and addressing key customer needs at all levels within the customer organization, including executive leadership. The primary goal is to increase Abbott's market share in a designated geographic area by retaining existing business and converting competitive systems. The SAM will also serve as an Alinity s/Blood Bank specialist, assisting local key account representatives, district sales managers, and integrated health systems managers in the sales process as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum 3 years of proven successful acquisition sales experience in diagnostic reagent and capital sales.
  • Strong technical sales/consultative approach
  • Familiar with the regulatory and quality issues that affect day to day operations in this workplace.
  • Knowledge of regulations and standards affecting IVDs and Biologics.
  • Familiar with Good Manufacturing Practices and Process Control.

Nice To Haves

  • Lab supervisory/management experience would be beneficial
  • Technical/science/Med Tech Degree
  • MBA would be beneficial

Responsibilities

  • Plans, schedules, and executes multilevel sales calls to all levels within organizations, starting with the Executive level, using consultative selling skills.
  • Identifies and builds relationships within the customer organization, maintaining consistently positive rapport.
  • Positions Transfusion Medicine (TM) for current and future sales opportunities at the Executive Level.
  • Protects and secures existing Abbott business in the largest billing TM accounts.
  • Negotiates, implements, and maintains reagent contracts.
  • Communicates basic to advanced product features, benefits, and clinical utility, using appropriate literature and proof sources.
  • Demonstrates and discusses key benefits of Alinity s.
  • Increases market share and sales in the multi-state geographic area.
  • Coordinates internal TM resources to meet customer needs and grow their business.
  • Consults on systems implementation, workflow, and troubleshooting strategies.
