About The Position

The Senior Statistician II works independently on statistical activities relating to the design, delivery, and interpretation of preclinical studies, regulatory submissions, and/or commercialisation. The role performs and communicates results of technical analyses, guides less experienced staff, develops and applies statistical ideas and approaches, and collaborates across functions. The position may work directly on projects and/or support statistical methodological advances. For direct project support, the role provides statistical expertise for complex study and programme design and interpretation, governance committees, regulatory submissions, and commercialisation. It analyses internal and external information and uses modelling and simulation to inform design decisions and decision criteria; develops statistical analysis plans; coaches less experienced statisticians; and interprets and communicates complex study results. The role also contributes to regulatory documents and responses, identifies opportunities to improve study design and statistical methods, helps establish best practices, and takes responsibility for the quality of its statistical work and professional development. For methodological work, the role develops pragmatic solutions under guidance from a more experienced statistician, drafts analysis plans, and provides statistical consultancy to colleagues and other business partners. It investigates and applies statistical approaches relevant to scientific and regulatory questions, develops methods and standards, builds external scientific and academic collaborations, contributes to process improvement or departmental capability development, and communicates research internally and externally, including through conferences and journal publications. The position collaborates with Biometrics teams, Therapeutic Area scientists, colleagues in other departments, drug project leaders in GPT and CPT, vendors, project managers, and other Biometrics contacts. AstraZeneca describes an average expectation of at least three office days per week, with flexibility. The annual base pay range is $119,848 to $179,772, with eligibility for incentives and benefits including retirement programs, paid time off, and health, dental, and vision coverage.
