About The Position

Nu is seeking a Senior Staff Technical Program Manager (TPM) to lead the global identity frontier. As an Outcome Owner, this role requires an engineering background combined with programmatic leadership for complex, cross-functional initiatives. The TPM will be accountable for the architectural alignment, migration strategy, and success of core authentication platforms. The immediate mission involves linking user data across multiple countries with segregated regional databases into a unifying entity, enabling a worldwide login for the app. This involves partnering with senior engineering talent to architect, execute, and migrate to a unified, global authentication layer that securely links user accounts internationally, laying the groundwork for a global digital bank.

Requirements

  • The "Engineer-First" Background: A proven foundational background as a Software, Security, or Systems Engineer earlier in your career before transitioning to technical program leadership. This role requires deep technical expertise to effectively guide the engineering organization.
  • Hands-on Technical Leadership: A strong track record of driving initiatives through active technical influence. Possess the hands-on technical leadership and ability to unblock teams using your own technical expertise when complex engineering bottlenecks or design challenges arise.
  • Ownership & Entrepreneurial Mindset: A distinct ownership mentality paired with an entrepreneurial, "raise the bar" attitude. Take full accountability for outcomes, challenge the status quo, and constantly push for higher standards of security, engineering excellence, and operational maturity.
  • Identity & Authentication Domain Expertise: Strong understanding of authentication protocols, distributed database syncing, tokenization, and identity access management (IAM).
  • Massive System Migrations: A proven track record of managing large-scale data migrations across geographically distributed systems and databases.
  • Executive Communication: Exceptional ability to articulate complex technical constraints to non-technical stakeholders and align highly opinionated engineering leaders without formal authority.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with cryptography or cryptographic key management is a significant plus.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Global Authentication Strategy: Act as the programmatic driver for creating a unified global login system. Formulate and execute migration plans for moving legacy, country-specific databases into a global architecture without service interruption.
  • Navigate Complex Dependencies: Coordinate horizontally across Frontend, New Markets, Growth, and Security teams to drive technical alignment and eliminate roadblocks.
  • Drive Technical Consensus & Crypto Standards: Partner deeply with Principal Engineers to author and review technical specifications and RFCs. Evaluate token exchange mechanisms, local vs. server storage paradigms, and cryptographic standards.
  • Establish High Technical Rigor: Untangle complex distributed systems bottlenecks. Ensure that every step of the global data link maintains bulletproof reliability where there is zero margin for error.
