•$185,000 - $363,000

About The Position

MongoDB’s Global Security Office (GSO) protects MongoDB, its customers, and the trust that supports the business. The Senior Staff Technical Program Manager is a senior individual contributor and program leader who operates across security, technology, risk, and business execution. The role leads strategic, high-impact programs with complex cross-functional dependencies and establishes consistent program execution and reporting practices across the GSO, including fostering a community among program managers distributed across reporting lines. The successful candidate brings rigor without unnecessary process, creates clarity from ambiguity, and builds systems that help security teams and their partners execute predictably as MongoDB scales. The role partners with executive sponsors and functional leaders, improves visibility into GSO priorities and progress, helps teams resolve complex decisions, and identifies opportunities to improve execution through reusable mechanisms, automation, and AI-enabled workflows. Success is measured by delivery of strategic GSO programs with clear outcomes and accountable owners; improved portfolio visibility; faster, higher-quality decisions on security trade-offs; adoption of scalable program-management practices; reduced execution friction and manual coordination; stronger cross-functional alignment; and sustained improvements in security posture, resilience, customer trust, or related program outcomes.

Requirements

  • 10+ years driving large-scale, cross-functional technical programs across engineering, security, and product organizations, with a record of delivering high-visibility outcomes in ambiguous environments.
  • Deep technical fluency and credibility in modern technology and security domains, such as cloud or infrastructure security, IAM, product security, resilience, or enterprise architecture, and ability to evaluate system-level dependencies and trade-offs.
  • Ability to define multi-year roadmaps, operationalize quarterly goals, and balance pragmatic process with execution agility.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering large-scale, cross-functional initiatives, program strategies, and roadmaps involving significant technical complexity, ambiguity, and executive visibility.
  • Exceptional stakeholder-management skills, including building consensus, holding teams accountable, and aligning competing priorities without formal authority.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication, including producing concise executive narratives and detailed technical artifacts for engineering teams.
  • Strong analytical, data-oriented mindset focused on defining clear metrics, evaluating trade-offs with evidence, and remaining composed when resolving high-stakes challenges.
  • Experience with modern program and work-management tools such as Jira, Confluence, Google Workspace, or comparable platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building or scaling a security program within a high-growth technology or SaaS company.
  • Experience with secure SDLC, threat modeling, security assessments, vulnerability management, security incident readiness, audit or compliance programs, customer security commitments, or security automation.
  • Experience partnering with Product Management and Engineering to connect security risk reduction, customer trust, delivery outcomes, and business priorities.
  • Experience using automation, data platforms, scripting, or generative AI to improve program operations and decision quality.
  • Experience mentoring technical program managers or leading a TPM community of practice.
  • Relevant technical, security, or program-management certification.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as senior program owner and trusted advisor for cross-functional security initiatives, partnering with executive sponsors and functional leads to establish accountability, sequencing, decision rights, and success measures.
  • Establish a consistent operating system for GSO programs and operational work, including program definitions, roadmaps, milestones, risk and issue management, decision logs, and outcome tracking.
  • Build integrated visibility into GSO priorities and progress, connecting team-level goals and workstreams to SMART goals and company-level planning and review mechanisms.
  • Apply security-domain knowledge alongside program-management rigor to help teams address risks faster.
  • Drive convergence on project issues when teams disagree, resolve cross-functional deadlocks, and escalate when decisions involve material strategic, organizational, or enterprise risk.
  • Identify systemic opportunities to improve execution through automation, AI-enabled workflows, reusable mechanisms, and common measures that reduce manual effort and improve decision quality.
  • Model MongoDB’s Leadership Commitment by communicating clearly, making trade-offs visible, maintaining high standards, and leading calmly and inclusively through change.
