Senior Staff Reservoir Engineer

ANSCHUTZ EXPLORATION CORPORATION•Denver, CO
•$214,427 - $260,000

About The Position

Work on energy engineering projects from prospect generation through development, supporting economic discoveries and development across conventional and unconventional resource plays. Apply broad reservoir experience and engineering methods to analyze and integrate data into team understanding, informing decisions and reservoir management. Conduct reservoir engineering analysis and characterization to develop integrated subsurface interpretations that support asset development and acquisition decisions. Collaborate with geology, drilling, completions, and facilities teams to optimize well design and maximize value. Evaluate economic models and profitability for asset development, acquisitions and divestitures, and annual planning. Drive initial flowback strategy and well surveillance, manage asset wedge performance through production forecasting and economic evaluation, and conduct post-well lookbacks with cross-functional teams to assess performance and capture learnings. Develop, coordinate, and integrate in-house and third-party studies—including reservoir simulation, multivariate analysis, offset pressure monitoring and interference testing, and rock and fluid analysis—into subsurface understanding and reservoir characterization. Assist the data engineering team with tools such as well KPI dashboards, flowback monitoring, parent/child/depletion screening, and competitor surveillance. Support year-end reserve analysis and communicate technical findings through presentations and written reports. The technical environment includes multidisciplinary characterization of unconventional reservoirs; field development planning, reservoir management, and production forecasting; hydrocarbon resource evaluation and reporting to corporate and regulatory standards; petroleum economic evaluation, risk analysis, and decision modeling; upstream oil industry software; well inventory and hydraulic fracturing design and planning; hydrocarbon fluid properties analysis; and competitor activity monitoring and evaluation.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related field and 15 years of experience exploring for and developing oil and gas assets in North American tight and unconventional plays; alternatively, a bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related field and 18 years of progressive experience in those areas.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary reservoir characterization of unconventional reservoirs.
  • Experience in oil and gas field development planning, reservoir management, and production forecasting.
  • Experience evaluating and reporting hydrocarbon resources according to corporate and regulatory standards.
  • Expertise in petroleum economic evaluation, risk analysis, and decision modeling.
  • Advanced working knowledge of upstream oil industry software such as Whitson, ComboCurve, Eclipse, Enverus, or related software.
  • Experience communicating and working with senior leadership.
  • Experience with well inventory and hydraulic fracturing design and planning.
  • Advanced knowledge of hydrocarbon fluid properties analysis.
  • Experience monitoring and evaluating competitor activity.
