About The Position

Trend Micro is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer to lead the architecture and development of core platform capabilities for their AI Security and Tag Management services within the Trend AI Vision One platform. This role is crucial for evolving large-scale security platforms, enabling secure, scalable, and intelligent services that power multiple security products and AI-driven workflows. It's a high-impact technical leadership position requiring deep experience in distributed systems, large-scale SaaS platforms, security data pipelines, and cloud-native architecture. The ideal candidate will shape the technical direction of platform services used across multiple product teams and influence the long-term architecture of the Trend AI Vision One platform.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience building large-scale backend systems or cloud platforms.
  • Strong experience designing and operating distributed systems and multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
  • Proven experience leading architecture and technical initiatives across multiple teams.
  • Deep expertise in cloud-native system design, microservices architecture, and large-scale data systems.
  • Strong programming experience in backend development (Go, Java, Python, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of system performance, scalability, and reliability engineering.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building security platforms or cybersecurity products.
  • Experience applying AI tooling to engineering workflows or applying AI capabilities in product development.
  • Experience working with large-scale telemetry or event processing systems.
  • Experience building data platforms, tagging systems, or metadata processing frameworks.
  • Experience building platform services used by multiple internal product teams.

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead the architecture and long-term technical strategy for Vision One AI Security and Tag Management services.
  • Design scalable multi-tenant cloud platform components supporting large-scale security telemetry, metadata tagging, and AI-driven analytics.
  • Drive cross-team platform architecture alignment and establish reusable platform services used across multiple security products.
  • Lead complex architectural initiatives and influence technical direction across engineering organizations.
  • Establish and promote best practices in system design, reliability engineering, and cloud-native architecture.
  • Lead architecture reviews, design discussions, and deep technical problem solving.
  • Ensure platform services meet enterprise standards for security, reliability, observability, and operational excellence.
  • Mentor engineers and technical leads across multiple teams.
  • Provide guidance on system architecture, scalability challenges, and platform engineering practices.
  • Influence engineering culture by promoting high standards in design, development, and operational ownership.
  • Architect and develop large-scale distributed systems that process high-volume security telemetry and contextual data.
  • Build and operate high-throughput data ingestion and processing pipelines supporting tagging, classification, and security intelligence workflows.
  • Design platform services capable of handling billions of security events and metadata relationships across enterprise environments.
  • Optimize systems for high availability, resilience, and performance at scale.
  • Evaluate and integrate relevant AI development tools and workflows to improve efficiency, code quality and delivery velocity.
  • Leverage AI technologies in product development and demonstrate measurable engineering productivity or customer impact.
