About The Position

Renesas is seeking a Senior Staff Application Engineer for their HiRel product group. This role will focus on supporting existing analog products and contributing to new product developments specifically for the space market. The products involved include Precision Op-amps, Instrumentation Amplifiers, Voltage References, Precision ADCs, Battery Management Systems (BMS), Analog Switches/Multiplexers, Current Sources and Drivers, Isolators, and Serial Interface (i.e. RS-422, CANBUS, I2C). Programming experience with Python, Java, and/or C languages, along with knowledge of Verilog coding with FPGAs, is considered a plus. Familiarity with using and troubleshooting PSpice models is also beneficial. The engineer will be part of a team responsible for device characterization, creating datasheet and application note documentation, and providing customer support. This position involves working within a multi-disciplinary New Product Development engineering team to define, evaluate, characterize, and document new products for market introduction. The role also requires engaging with potential customers to refine application needs into product features and supporting customer implementation of Renesas products through various communication channels, including potential on-site visits. Participation in global industry conventions as a presenter is also expected.

Requirements

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
  • Self-motivated and conscientious.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Good knowledge of analog design and lab troubleshooting skills.
  • Understand and follow industry standards of test for ICs.
  • 7 to 10+ Years in Applications and/or Systems Engineering role in Analog IC Development or Circuit Design Industry.
  • Proficient with analog and mixed signal designs.
  • Proficient with electronic bench lab equipment (power supplies, function generators, multi-meters, oscilloscopes).
  • Experience in Schematic/Layout design tools and switching power supply layout concepts (Altium preferred).
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point).

Nice To Haves

  • Programming experience with Python, Java, and/or C languages.
  • Knowledge of Verilog coding with FPGAs.
  • Knowledge of using and troubleshooting PSpice models.
  • Experience writing programming code (i.e. Python) to automate lab bench equipment in GBIP/USB communication.
  • Experience modeling circuits (SPICE and or IBIS).

Responsibilities

  • Perform lab tests for the characterization of different products.
  • Prepare validation plans and compile validation reports.
  • Understand how parts are tested to assist customers with their performance and issues.
  • Utilize FrameMaker for generating and editing Data Sheets and work with Technical Documentation for publishing.
  • Keep accurate lab notes and document test procedures.
  • Generate and publish Technical Briefs, Application Notes, Customers Responses, and possibly Articles.
  • Work with marketing and sales to facilitate product design-ins.
  • Provide technical assistance to address customer questions and analyze field returns.
  • Train Field Application Engineers on products and demonstration systems.
  • Work with Marketing, Customer, Design and Product engineering teams to help define new products.
