About The Position

The Senior Staff Accountant will play a key role in supporting the continued growth and evolution of Venture Metals+ by helping strengthen accounting processes, enhance financial reporting, and drive operational excellence across the organization. This role offers the opportunity to work across multiple areas of accounting and operations while contributing to initiatives that improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and enjoys understanding how transactions flow through the business. They are comfortable working with large volumes of data, partnering with cross-functional teams, and identifying opportunities to improve processes and strengthen financial controls. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 2-5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing, distribution, recycling, or private equity-backed environment.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, account reconciliations, month-end close, and financial analysis.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience working within an ERP system; Microsoft Dynamics GP experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently research and resolve accounting discrepancies, analyze large data sets, and improve accounting processes.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting.
  • Analyze financial activity and account fluctuations, researching and resolving discrepancies as needed.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare financial reporting schedules, variance analysis, and supporting workpapers.
  • Support intercompany accounting processes.
  • Maintain organized and audit-ready supporting documentation.
  • Partner with Accounting Operations, Commercial, Procurement, Inventory, and Operations teams to understand transaction flows and ensure accurate accounting treatment across purchasing, inventory, sales, AP, AR, cash, and intercompany activity.
  • Support inventory accounting activities including reconciliations, roll-forwards, costing analysis, and transaction reviews.
  • Assist with account analysis and historical transaction research to support financial accuracy and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure accounting treatment aligns with company policies and GAAP standards.
  • Prepare audit schedules and support internal and external audit requests.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and support compliance initiatives.
  • Assist with documenting accounting processes, procedures, and reconciliation methodologies.
  • Identify process gaps, control weaknesses, and operational inefficiencies and recommend solutions.
  • Support ERP enhancements, reporting optimization, automation initiatives, and accounting process improvements.
  • Participate in special projects focused on strengthening controls, improving processes, and supporting the continued growth of the organization.
