About The Position

The Financial Accounting Senior Staff is responsible for preparing and reviewing general ledger journal entries under the supervision of the Accounting Supervisor. This position requires knowledge of the month-end close process over the balance sheet, income, and expense accounts. Journal entries require reference to supporting documentation, schedules, account reconciliations, and research to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree in accounting or related field with an emphasis in accounting from an accredited university.
  • Five (5) years of general ledger accounting duties in a professional office setting.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to foster a supportive and enabling team environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of financial and accounting principles and familiarity with GAAP.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Must be able to sit in front of a computer screen for extended periods.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours.
  • Must be willing to work in a smoking environment.
  • Must be willing to adhere to company health and safety measures.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a gaming and/or hospitality environment preferred.
  • Experience in preparing internal financial reports preferred.
  • Experience with Workday preferred.
  • Experience tracking and monitoring expenses related to large internal construction projects preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares general journal entries.
  • Reviews journal entries and supporting documents prepared by staff accountants for accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepares reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts.
  • Completes monthly departmental financial reports and conducts analysis and research of budget vs. actual variances to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepares daily, monthly, and ad hoc reports as assigned.
  • Attends required company training and meetings.
  • Follows department policies and procedures in accordance with corporate policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintains the strictest confidence of all confidential information.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of all assigned areas.
  • Serves as a role model and promotes professional behavior.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
