About The Position

Sabrosura Foods is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join their team in Bloomington, Minnesota. This role reports to the Corporate Controller and is responsible for managing fixed assets, including recording acquisitions, tracking, depreciation, and dispositions. The position also involves accounting for leases in accordance with ASC 842, daily general accounting tasks, journal entries, account reconciliations, and providing support for audits and tax filings. The ideal candidate will be comfortable prioritizing tasks, managing deadlines, and maintaining a positive attitude with integrity and professionalism.

Requirements

  • Strong technical accounting and financial acumen along with problem identification, analytical and resolution skills.
  • Fixed asset experience.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end close process.
  • Proficiency with ERP software required.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills in addition to experience with other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must have a high-level of organization, a positive attitude, self-motivation and an energetic approach.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
  • 4+ years professional experience in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Create and monitor a system of controls, procedures, and forms for the recording of fixed assets.
  • Make recommendations to management on any updates to accounting policies related to fixed assets and leases.
  • Record fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions in the accounting system (Sage).
  • Track the compilation of project costs into fixed asset accounts and close out those accounts once the related projects have been completed.
  • Reconcile the balance in the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the summary-level account in the general ledger.
  • Calculate depreciation and amortization for all fixed assets and leases.
  • Review and update the detailed schedule of fixed assets and accumulated depreciation.
  • Conduct periodic impairment reviews for both tangible and intangible assets.
  • Prepare audit schedules relating to fixed assets and assist the auditors in their inquiries.
  • Prepare property tax returns and represent the company during any asset audits by a government.
  • Track company expenditures for fixed assets in comparison to the budget and authorizations.
  • Record fixed asset acquisitions and maintain account reconciliations utilizing the accounting system.
  • Provide fixed Asset Apportionment schedules for the tax return.
  • Prepare and record journal entries during month-end close process for assigned areas.
  • Maintain monthly account analysis and reconcile select general ledger accounts for multiple legal entities.
  • Provide support during the annual audit.
  • Assist management on special projects and other duties as assigned.
