About The Position

TransLoop is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant to join our Finance and Accounting team in our Chicago office. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this role will play a critical part in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the Company’s financial records while supporting a fast-growing, operationally complex business generating over $300 million in annual revenue. The Senior Staff Accountant will be heavily involved in the monthly close process, account reconciliations, cash application activities, revenue recognition, lease accounting, and financial reporting. This position provides significant exposure to executive leadership and offers opportunities for expanded responsibilities based on demonstrated performance, technical proficiency, and career aspirations. This is an in-office position based in Chicago, designed for an accounting professional who values collaboration, mentorship, and hands-on exposure to the financial operations of a rapidly growing organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • 2-5 years of accounting experience in public accounting and/or industry.
  • Experience performing month-end close activities and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statement relationships.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume operating environment.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA certification or active pursuit of CPA licensure.
  • Experience in transportation, logistics, freight brokerage, or other transaction-intensive industries.
  • Experience with revenue recognition and lease accounting.
  • Experience working with cloud-based accounting systems and ERP platforms.
  • Familiarity with Tableau or other data visualization and business intelligence tools.
  • Experience supporting financial statement audits.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Own assigned portions of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
  • Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules.
  • Research and resolve reconciling items on a timely basis.
  • Analyze account activity and investigate unusual transactions and variances.
  • Support preparation of monthly financial reporting packages and management analyses.
  • Perform daily and monthly cash application activities.
  • Reconcile cash receipts to customer invoices and investigate discrepancies.
  • Assist with monitoring cash activity and maintaining accurate cash records.
  • Support process improvements designed to enhance cash application accuracy and efficiency.
  • Support revenue recognition processes and related reconciliations.
  • Maintain lease accounting schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and U.S. GAAP.
  • Assist with accounting research and technical accounting analyses as needed.
  • Support internal control and process documentation initiatives.
  • Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation for external auditors.
  • Assist with annual financial statement audits and other compliance reviews.
  • Participate in accounting system enhancements and future ERP implementation initiatives.
  • Utilize accounting and reporting tools to improve visibility, efficiency, and data quality.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and strengthen controls.
