Senior SQL Server DBA
About The Position
We are looking for a SQL Server DBA with SME-level expertise and 7+ years of hands-on SQL Server experience to support complex database environments onsite at Omaha, NE. In this role, you will bring deep SQL Server administration knowledge, strong PowerShell scripting capability, advanced troubleshooting skills, and a continuous improvement mindset to help deliver resilient, high-performing, and compliant database solutions. Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in SQL Server database administration
- Expert knowledge of SQL Server DBA fundamentals, including backup and recovery, security, performance tuning, maintenance, and availability.
- Strong hands-on experience with PowerShell scripting for automation and operational efficiency.
- Expert-level Windows troubleshooting capability.
- Strong experience with query optimization, index tuning, and wait statistics analysis.
- Hands-on experience with Always On Availability Groups.
- Experience supporting disaster recovery orchestration and production resiliency initiatives.
- Experience working with regulatory compliance requirements, including SOX and CIS.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to perform code reviews and mentor junior developers or engineers to drive high-quality deliverables.
- Demonstrated commitment to delivering projects with a first-time-right / zero-defect production mindset.
Nice To Haves
- Intermediate experience with SCOM and SCCM is preferred.
- Experience with monitoring and alerting tuning is preferred.
- Exposure to data analytics tools such as Tableau is a plus.
- Knowledge of Agile development methodology is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and optimize SQL Server database environments with a focus on reliability, performance, availability, and operational excellence.
- Design, support, and troubleshoot SQL Server architectures, including Always On Availability Groups and high-availability configurations.
- Lead query tuning, index tuning, and wait statistics analysis to identify performance bottlenecks and improve database efficiency.
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate database administration, monitoring, reporting, and operational tasks.
- Troubleshoot complex Windows and SQL Server issues across production and non-production environments.
- Support disaster recovery orchestration, including planning, validation, execution support, and continuous improvement of recovery processes.
- Contribute to database compliance activities aligned with regulatory and security frameworks such as SOX and CIS.
- Review code, database scripts, and implementation plans to promote high-quality, stable, and production-ready deliverables.
- Mentor junior team members and support knowledge sharing across the team.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues, improve processes, and deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Apply strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to drive root cause analysis and long-term remediation.
- Support monitoring and alerting improvements to reduce noise, improve visibility, and strengthen operational response.
- Collaborate effectively in a delivery environment; knowledge of Agile development methodology is a plus.
