About The Position

Empower AI is seeking a Senior SQL Database Administrator to provide comprehensive database management support for the global customer IT environment at the Department of State. This role involves providing senior Tier II support for all databases and Tier III support for all SQL databases, including the Customer Consolidated Database (CCD) and related databases. The position supports both legacy and modernized client/server and web-based applications, assists with modernization initiatives, and conducts proactive and reactive monitoring in response to incidents and alerts. The administrator will automate manual maintenance, deployment, diagnostic health checks, validation, and reporting processes where feasible. Responsibilities include routine database tuning, generating performance/usage reports, applying DoS-authorized patches, and executing/validating scheduled backups and restores. The role also involves supporting the integration of database services with partner agencies and internal applications, managing middleware and messaging queues (e.g., SOA-based ESB infrastructure), deploying DDL and DML scripts, and coordinating application releases globally. Additionally, the Senior SQL Database Administrator will provide operational support for Oracle engineered systems (Exadata), including standby builds, SSH key management, and cloud migration activities.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience
  • Bachelor's in IT or related field
  • Secret Security Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Provide senior Tier II support for all databases and Tier III support for all SQL databases, including the Customer Consolidated Database (CCD) and related databases.
  • Support databases for both legacy and modernized client/server and web-based applications.
  • Support modernized databases and assist with modernization initiatives.
  • Conduct proactive and reactive monitoring, responding to incidents and alerts generated by database monitoring software.
  • Automate manual maintenance, deployment, diagnostic health checks, validation, and reporting processes whenever feasible.
  • Perform routine database tuning, generate performance/usage reports, and apply DoS-authorized patches.
  • Execute and validate scheduled onsite/offsite backups and restores.
  • Support integration of database service with partner agencies and internal applications, including managing middleware and messaging queues (e.g., Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) based Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) infrastructure).
  • Deploy approved Data Definition Language (DDL) and Data Manipulation Language (DML) scripts.
  • Coordinate customer application releases across all domestic and overseas locations.
  • Provide operational support for Oracle engineered systems (Exadata), including standby builds, Secure Shell (SSH) key management, and cloud migration activities.
