About The Position

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are seeking a Senior Sports Field & Grounds Coordinator to support the maintenance and upkeep of fields and grounds. This role involves performing tasks such as mowing, edging, blowing, trimming, removing debris, and ensuring pathways and common areas are clean and safe. The coordinator will help prepare fields for practices, walkthroughs, and special events, including field painting and layout. Responsibilities also include supporting irrigation operation, troubleshooting, and repairs, while monitoring turf health and identifying issues. The role assists with cultural practices like aerification, topdressing, overseeding, and fertilization, as well as the operation and maintenance of groundskeeping equipment. Additionally, the coordinator will help implement landscaping plans and seasonal maintenance schedules to enhance the appearance and health of the grounds, while adhering to safety guidelines and environmental regulations.

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of experience in turfgrass or athletic field maintenance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Florida Pesticide Applicator License
  • Experience in athletic field maintenance, preferably at collegiate or professional level
  • Experience in landscape maintenance operations
  • Ability to operate turf maintenance equipment including: reel mowers, rotary mowers, utility vehicles, tractors, sprayers, edgers, line trimmers, and blowers
  • Experience in irrigation maintenance and repairs
  • Knowledge of turfgrass management practices
  • Understanding of sports field playability and safety standards
  • Familiarity with field painting techniques and layout accuracy
  • Knowledge of integrated pest management (IPM) and turf health monitoring
  • Understanding of soil moisture management and drainage principles
  • Knowledge of synthetic turf maintenance
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Effective time and resource management
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Flexibility in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Must be able to lift over 50 pounds
  • Must be able to perform occasional physical tasks, which may include working outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, twist, and kneel
  • Ability to push and pull objects weighing over 20 pounds
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to operate tools, equipment, or technology (including but not limited to heavy machinery, forklifts, golf carts, vehicles)
  • Ability to work in noisy environments

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Turfgrass Management or related field preferred; comparable professional experience may be considered

Responsibilities

  • Perform turf maintenance operations including: reel mowing, edging, line trimming, field painting, and debris removal
  • Assist in preparation and recovery of fields for team use and special events
  • Perform minor maintenance and repair on equipment and tools as required
  • Support all phases of athletic field maintenance including aerification, topdressing, overseeding, and fertilization
  • Calibrate and maintain application equipment such as sprayers, spreaders, and other turf management tools to ensure accurate fertilizer, pesticide, and seed application rates
  • Monitor, maintain, and assist with irrigation system operation, troubleshooting, and repairs
  • Complete projects and daily tasks within established timelines
  • Evaluate and anticipate field conditions based on usage, weather, and agronomic factors to maintain safe and playable surfaces
  • Assist with synthetic turf maintenance and repairs
  • Perform landscape operations as needed, including rotary mowing, edging, line trimming, tree/shrub pruning, landscape bed upkeep, and physical/mechanical debris removal
  • Support event setup and breakdown, including non-football events
  • Assist with special projects, including facility improvements and landscape enhancements
  • Perform other duties as assigned
