About The Position

Aston Carter is seeking a Senior Speech Writer to develop and deliver impactful speeches, talking points, editorials, opinion pieces, and other executive communications. This role involves capturing and communicating leadership perspectives with authenticity, clarity, and strategic messaging, and supporting leaders during major speaking engagements. The position also requires providing communication guidance, presentations, and training to internal stakeholders. The Senior Speech Writer will collaborate across departments to develop and execute integrated communication strategies, ensuring alignment across branding, media relations, digital communications, social media, advertising, and stakeholder engagement efforts. They will also develop messaging frameworks and key talking points consistent with organizational priorities and objectives, and support proactive communications planning and response strategies. Additionally, the role involves monitoring and analyzing current events, policy developments, industry trends, and emerging issues, conducting research to inform communications, and translating complex topics into compelling content tailored to various audiences, while producing high-quality written materials under tight deadlines. Building and maintaining productive relationships with internal teams, industry partners, media contacts, and external stakeholders is crucial, as is collaborating with communications, public relations, and advocacy partners to support campaign goals and organizational initiatives. The role also assists in developing coalition-building strategies to enhance communications effectiveness and audience reach.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Public Relations, Humanities, or a related field.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in speechwriting, executive communications, journalism, public relations, advocacy, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience writing speeches, editorials, articles, and public-facing content for senior leaders.
  • Experience managing politically sensitive or high-profile communications.
  • Proven success handling multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, research, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
