About The Position

The Senior Specialist, Value & Implementation Project Manager (VIPM), is a core member of the Value & Implementation Team within Global Project and Alliance Management (GPAM), part of Research and Development. The role partners with team leaders to develop strategies and execute drug and vaccine Value & Implementation efforts to advance the R&D pipeline. The position provides project management leadership and drives cross-functional teams, managing simple projects independently and moderate-complexity assignments with a partner project manager. Projects may span any therapeutic area in which the company is engaged.

The role leads the Value and Implementation process, develops and executes integrated project plans, coordinates strategic and tactical contributions from relevant functions, and uses enterprise project management systems to maintain plans, identify risks, and communicate with stakeholders. The Senior Specialist also supports team decision-making, meeting facilitation, team effectiveness, continuous learning, and improvements to GPAM processes and tools.

The position may be based in Rahway, New Jersey; Upper Gwynedd, Pennsylvania; or Zurich, Switzerland. The primary location listed is Rahway, New Jersey. The work arrangement is hybrid, with 10% travel.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required; a concentration in a scientific or applied discipline is preferred.
• At least three years of experience in project management or a related role.
• Ability to coordinate and lead cross-functional project work.
• Skills in project management, project leadership, meeting facilitation and organization, interpersonal relationships, adaptability, data analysis, and change management.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
• Advanced degree such as an MPH, MS, MBA, Ph.D., or PharmD.
• Experience and knowledge of different components of Value and Implementation and how functional areas contribute to a comprehensive strategy.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and/or formal project management coursework or training.

Responsibilities

• Manage Value and Implementation projects of moderate complexity and partner with a more seasoned project manager on high-complexity projects.
• Drive cross-functional teams to develop comprehensive strategies and execute projects successfully.
• Guide teams through the creation, approval, and execution of integrated project plans appropriate to each project's development phase and complexity.
• Integrate strategic and tactical input from functions such as Medical Affairs, Outcomes Research, Market Access, Biostatistics and Research Decision Sciences, and Commercial.
• Build and maintain project plans and critical project information in enterprise project management systems and databases.
• Use project management systems to integrate team activities, identify risks proactively, and communicate effectively with team members, management, and cross-departmental stakeholders.
• Leverage relationships and networks to improve team dynamics and, with guidance as needed, identify and remove obstacles to achieve business results.
• Navigate company processes and organizational norms so teams understand business requirements and can make decisions.
• Prepare for, facilitate, and document team meetings; ensure meetings have clear objectives and that conflict is surfaced and resolved.
• Complete ongoing training and personal development to strengthen leadership competency and Value & Implementation project management knowledge and skills.
• Provide input into monitoring GPAM processes and tools, and advocate for and contribute to process improvements when warranted.
