Senior Specialist – NVH Simulations

Scout MotorsCharlotte, NC
$130,000 - $160,000Onsite

About The Position

Scout Motors is reviving an iconic American vehicle brand, electrifying and digitizing it with American innovation. The company aims to create vehicles that are equally at home in various settings, from campsites to job sites to daily commutes, offering both all-electric and range-extender powertrains. Scout Motors fosters an environment for its employees to be visionary, collaborative, and passionate. This role is responsible for end-to-end NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) simulation development across component, subsystem, and full-vehicle levels. The position involves building and executing high-fidelity CAE models to predict vibration behavior, noise propagation, and acoustic performance. Key responsibilities include performing various analyses (modal, frequency response, transfer path), defining NVH targets, leading root-cause analysis, correlating CAE predictions with test data, and partnering with design and supplier teams to integrate NVH solutions early in the development process. The role also supports optimization of damping, isolation, structural, and acoustic solutions, develops efficient workflows, and contributes to digital twin integration and the adoption of AI/ML tools for NVH prediction.

Requirements

  • Strong foundation in vibration, acoustics, and structural dynamics with hands-on NVH CAE experience.
  • Experienced in full-vehicle NVH development within an OEM or Tier-1 environment.
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and able to balance engineering depth with program timelines.
  • Effective communicator of complex technical insights across cross-functional teams.
  • Motivated to deliver high-quality vehicles and continuously improve engineering processes.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years of automotive NVH CAE experience.
  • Strong fundamentals in vibration and acoustics.
  • Experience with NVH tools such as Nastran, Abaqus, OptiStruct, Actran, VA One, or equivalent.
  • Experience in modal, frequency response, and transfer path analysis.
  • Proven CAE-test correlation and root-cause analysis capability.
  • Strong technical communication skills.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with electrified powertrain NVH.
  • Familiarity with SEA or hybrid FE-SEA methods.
  • Experience with Python or MATLAB for automation.
  • Exposure to optimization, DOE, or robustness studies.
  • Experience supporting OEM development milestones and sign-off.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for end-to-end NVH simulation development across component, subsystem, and full-vehicle levels, covering structure-borne and airborne noise.
  • Build and execute high-fidelity CAE models to predict vibration behavior, noise propagation, and overall acoustic performance.
  • Perform modal, frequency response, and transfer path analyses to identify dominant noise and vibration sources and paths.
  • Develop and apply structure-borne and airborne NVH models, including mounts, body structures, cavity acoustics, and acoustic treatments.
  • Define and cascade NVH targets from vehicle to subsystem and component levels.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and develop simulation-driven countermeasures.
  • Correlate CAE predictions with physical test data and improve model accuracy and predictive capability.
  • Partner with design, body, and supplier teams to integrate NVH solutions early in development.
  • Review design changes for cross-attribute NVH impact and support vehicle milestones and sign-off.
  • Drive optimization of damping, isolation, structural, and acoustic solutions.
  • Develop efficient workflows, automation, and contribute to digital twin integration.
  • Support adoption of AI/ML tools to enhance NVH prediction and workflow efficiency.
