About The Position

The Senior Specialist - Fiscal Services provides professional accounting support to the Fiscal Services Office by managing daily accounting tasks and providing assistance to the higher-level Accountants. Requirements

  • Associates degree from a regionally accredited institution OR equivalent recent relevant full-time work experience (two years of full-time recent relevant work experience for every one year of college).
  • One year of related work experience.
  • Microsoft Office expertise, specifically Excel.
  • Knows the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong technical accounting skills.
  • Works well independently and has excellent organization and time management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, business, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Knowledge and experience with the Ellucian Banner ERP system.
  • Previous experience in a Fiscal Services or postsecondary institution.

Responsibilities

  • Posts and processes journal entries to ensure all business transactions are appropriately recorded.
  • Updates accounts receivables and perform reconciliations.
  • Updates accounts payable and perform reconciliations.
  • Assists in the processing of financial statements and/or reports according to legal and institutional accounting and financial guidelines.
  • Assists with reviewing of expenses, records, etc. as assigned.
  • Updates financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed.
  • Prepares and submits reports, as assigned.
  • Assists higher-level accountants in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings, audits, projects, etc.
  • Assist with other accounting projects, as assigned.
  • Handles sensitive information in a confidential manner.
  • Maintains a highly professional attitude and demeanor at all times.
  • Provides responsible, appropriate, and satisfactory leadership on campus and within the College.
  • Communicates positively and professionally in all aspects of the position.
  • Attends all staff meetings, College meetings, and professional development activities.
  • Becomes thoroughly familiar with all pertinent state and national policies and comply with said policies.
  • Serves on and provide information to college committees as needed.
  • Complies with ACCS and College policies, as well as state and federal laws.
  • Ensures the positive promotion of the College and integration of all campuses within the College.
  • Is prompt and punctual in reporting for work, meetings, and office hours.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
