About The Position

Maintains, tunes, and optimizes EMS advanced applications and network models to ensure accurate real time system analysis and high performance operational tools. This role elevates grid reliability by applying expert level knowledge to complex EMS functions and integrations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 7 years of experience working with EMS/SCADA systems in a utility or functional role responsibilities.
  • Hands‑on experience with EMS advanced applications (State Estimation, Contingency Analysis, topology processing).
  • Experience with real time power system models, SCADA/telemetry acquisition, and system validation practices.
  • Experience developing or improving policies, SOPs, workflows or programs.
  • Proven experience leading projects or initiatives of moderate complexity and influencing cross‑functional teams.
  • Recognized subject‑matter expertise, serving as an advanced resource and consultant to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Associate’s degree in a relevant field may substitute when accompanied by a minimum of 10 years of experience performing similar functions and at least 7 years of experience performing a previous position as Specialist-level role or equivalent.
  • High School or equivalent (GED) when accompanied by a minimum of 12 years of experience performing similar functions described and at least 9 years of experience performing the responsibilities of a specialist role.
  • Valid Driver's License

Responsibilities

  • Enhances and optimize advanced EMS applications including State Estimation, Security/Contingency Analysis, and Network Topology to strengthen real‑time analytical accuracy.
  • Leads EMS/SCADA advanced application databases to ensure accurate telemetry, displays, diagrams, and visualization tools aligned with operational needs.
  • Oversees integrations and real‑time data interfaces to ensure redundancy, failover capability, and high‑quality data exchange with external systems.
  • Coordinates technical troubleshooting, regression testing, and feature enhancements with EMS vendors following established change management policies.
  • Executes network model updates, including validation in staging environments and controlled migrations to production.
  • Develops validation routines, KPIs, accuracy benchmarks, and alarm/threshold libraries to monitor the health and performance of advanced EMS applications.
  • Creates and maintains comprehensive documentation, runbooks, and disaster recovery procedures to support operational continuity and knowledge retention.
  • Supports audits and compliance requirements related to EMS operations, cybersecurity, and change control, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Interprets, applies, and reinforces company policies, procedures, and standards, ensuring robust compliance with all applicable laws, industry regulations, and internal governance requirements.
  • Participates in storm restoration tasks and assigned drills to contribute to the safe and reliable recovery of services.
  • Performs additional responsibilities aligned with senior‑level expertise and organizational needs, contributing to strategic projects, team development, and enhanced operational flexibility.
