About The Position

L3Harris is hiring a Digital Hardware Engineer in Palm Bay, Florida. The role develops digital circuits for data acquisition and computing systems, including specifications, component selection, high-speed digital circuit design, simulation, analyses, support for PWB layout, and integration and verification testing. The engineer designs mixed-signal circuit card assemblies (CCAs) and works through the digital CCA design process, from requirements generation and preliminary design through peer reviews, detailed design, test planning, integration, and test. The role requires working independently to generate digital CCA design solutions and the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance. The position follows a 9/80 schedule: employees work 9 out of every 14 days, totaling 80 hours, with every other Friday off.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience; or a graduate degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience; or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
  • Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with high-speed memory and network interfaces and protocols.
  • Self-motivation and ability to lead a design team.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and negotiate solutions with Hardware/Software Engineering and Systems Engineering.
  • Knowledge of high-complexity digital design techniques and devices.
  • Hardware debugging skills and experience operating signal generators, logic analyzers, and digital oscilloscopes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform CCA design, specifying mixed-signal technology circuits including A/D, D/A, processors, I/O communication, and programmable logic (FPGA, CPLD) circuits.
  • Apply the digital CCA design process, including requirements generation, preliminary design, peer reviews, detailed design, test plan generation, integration, and test.
  • Design circuits using DSP processors, processors, microcontrollers, FPGA, CPLD, and volatile and non-volatile memory.
  • Work with board technologies such as HDI, Meg6, and back drilling.
  • Design high-speed memory interfaces, including DDRx.
  • Use schematic software tools for schematic capture, constraint-driven design, layout, simulation, and timing analysis.
  • Work independently to generate digital CCA design solutions.
  • Support PWB layout, integration, and verification testing.
