About The Position

L3Harris has an opening for a Digital Hardware Engineer in Palm Bay, Florida. The role develops digital circuits for data acquisition and computing systems. Work includes generating specifications, selecting components, designing and simulating high-speed digital circuits, conducting analyses, supporting printed wiring board (PWB) layout, and performing integration and verification testing. The engineer designs mixed-signal circuit card assemblies (CCAs) using A/D and D/A converters, processors, I/O communications, and programmable logic such as FPGAs and CPLDs. The role covers the CCA design process from requirements generation and preliminary design through peer reviews, detailed design, test-plan generation, integration, and test. Designs may use DSPs, microprocessors, microcontrollers, programmable logic, and volatile or non-volatile memory. The engineer works with board technologies including HDI, Meg6, and back drilling; designs high-speed DDRx memory interfaces; uses schematic and design software for capture, constraints, layout, simulation, and timing analysis; and independently generates digital CCA design solutions. The position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance. The stated schedule is 9/80: employees work 9 out of every 14 days, totaling 80 hours, and have every other Friday off.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 6 years of prior relevant experience; or a graduate degree and at least 4 years of prior related experience; or, in lieu of a degree, at least 10 years of prior related experience.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.
  • Thorough understanding of the digital CCA design process.
  • Experience or capability designing with processors, microcontrollers, FPGA/CPLD devices, and volatile or non-volatile memory.
  • Knowledge of board technologies such as HDI, Meg6, and back drilling.
  • Ability to design high-speed DDRx memory interfaces.
  • Ability to use schematic software for circuit card design, including schematic capture, constraint-driven design, layout, simulation, and timing analysis.
  • Ability to work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with high-speed memory and network interfaces and protocols.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to lead a design team.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and negotiate solutions with Hardware/Software Engineering and Systems Engineering.
  • Knowledge of high-complexity digital design techniques and devices.
  • Hardware debugging skills and experience operating signal generators, logic analyzers, and digital oscilloscopes.
