About The Position

We are seeking a Senior Special Security Officer to provide comprehensive technical expertise and support for security management initiatives in United States Naval Observatory, Washington, D.C. The Contract is a pivotal institution supporting national defense, navigation, and scientific research, requiring robust security measures to safeguard its facilities, personnel, and sensitive information.

Requirements

Demonstrated experience in technical support roles with a strong understanding of security systems such as access control, surveillance, and emergency communication systems.
Active TS/SCI security clearance as per DD 254 requirements.
Familiarity with security protocols and procedures in alignment with federal regulations, including ICD 705, 704, NISPOM, M-5510.30C, and M5510.36B.
Ability to analyze complex technical issues, propose solutions, and implement effective resolutions in a timely manner.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with technical teams, security personnel, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Provide advanced technical support in the implementation and maintenance of security systems and technologies, including but not limited to access control systems, surveillance systems, and emergency communication systems.
Manage and administer Defense Information System (DISS) and other government tracking systems required for security clearance processes and compliance with federal regulations.
Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to security systems promptly and effectively to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operational readiness.
Collaborate with the Security Manager and IT teams to assess security system capabilities, identify areas for improvement, and implement upgrades or enhancements as necessary.
Maintain accurate documentation of technical procedures, system configurations, and incident reports. Prepare monthly progress reports highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommendations for improvements.
Provide technical training and support to security personnel on the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of security systems and technologies.
