About The Position

The Special Events Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and orderly environment during special events, functions, and high-traffic gatherings. This role involves monitoring event spaces, controlling access, responding to incidents, and providing professional support to guests, staff, and event organizers while ensuring compliance with company policies and security procedures.

Requirements

  • Successfully attend and complete the Security Academy within their first 30 days of employment.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, including ability to maintain composure under stress.
  • Flexible shifts, available to work nights and weekends, including holidays.
  • Ability to make a quick decision and/or take charge of a potentially volatile or unpleasant situation.
  • Ability to respond to acts of aggression at the lowest level necessary to effect control.
  • Ability to assess an incident and determine based on training and experience, which options in the force continuum will be best to de-escalate the situation in a safe and prudent manner.
  • Actively assist with established Front of House emergency procedures.
  • Familiar with location and operation of emergency exits and equipment.
  • Assist House Manager with procedures for injuries, medical problems, etc.
  • Assist patrons with ADA / special needs.
  • Ability to provide accurate knowledge to patrons regarding venue logistics (i.e., location of ticket office, restrooms, concessions, information about the show/event, general building history, etc.).
  • Ability to document and write detailed voluntary statements.
  • Ability to read event ticket (visual acuity corrected to read as small as 11-font print) in dim lighting with use of flashlight.
  • Must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior military, police, or security background is a plus, but not required for this position.
  • Prior customer service experience preferred.
  • Experience in a theater/show/event setting is highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safety and well-being of guests and fellow Team Members.
  • Gives directions and provides escorts to guests/customers in need.
  • Set up wanding stations and check all bags entering the venue.
  • Effectively communicate with Members of Security and Showroom Management.
  • Provide assistance to civil and law enforcement authorities, including testimony in court and other administrative hearings.
  • Makes chip fills, jackpot verifications.
  • Regularly provide escorts of money and persons in money-handling positions.
  • Provides first aid, including CPR when necessary.
  • Patrols all sections of property to identify safety hazards and breaks in security.
  • Interviews, investigates and documents all applicable incidents in accordance with company policy.
  • Assist with Lost and Found Inquiries.
  • Enforce venue rules, policies, and safety regulations consistently and fairly.
  • Upon arrival, make sure that the theater is in operating condition, such as checking all emergency exits and applicable stairwells for obstructions and debris.
  • Ensure an AED is in the correct area and in working order.
  • Report all unsafe or blocked areas to the Manager on Shift or Supervisor/lead.
  • Be in assigned area by designated time, with company issued equipment, ready to work.
  • Work directly with the Box Office to ensure VIP & VVIP guests are handled appropriately, seating reconfigurations are known and managed.
  • Exhibit sound judgement when making decisions that affect the flow of the customers in and out of the venues.
  • Understand and perform duties of assignment.
  • Monitor physical surroundings in assigned area prior to and throughout show for safety, cleanliness and functionality; notify the Showroom Supervisor of concerns.
  • Respond quickly and courteously to patrons’ needs, questions, comments, or concerns with answers and/or action.
  • At end of show/event, walk through assigned area retrieving lost items, etc. and turn them into lost and found.
  • Submit assigned reports as directed.
