About The Position

SEAKR Engineering is seeking an accomplished Space Electronics Systems Engineer to lead the design, development, testing, and qualification of mission-critical electronic subsystems for next-generation products. The role involves collaborating with hardware, firmware, mechanical, power, and software teams to deliver highly reliable, radiation-tolerant electronics that meet stringent requirements. The position is hybrid, with three days onsite at the research facility and two days remote, depending on the program cycle. The work supports space missions and takes place in an interdisciplinary environment with frequent design reviews and a focus on continuous improvement. The company provides a dedicated budget for space-industry conferences, training, and certification programs. The role also includes mentoring junior engineers, conducting design reviews, representing SEAKR during unit sell-off and delivery, and maintaining technical documentation and knowledge for future teams. Base salary is $130,000–$180,000, depending on qualifications. Employees are eligible for a year-end bonus and have access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan, and paid leave. U.S. citizenship is required. Applications will be accepted until 11/06/26.

  • Proficiency with Requirements Management Environment (RME) tools.
  • Experience with radiation testing (TID, SEE) and mitigation techniques.
  • Experience integrating firmware/software with embedded microcontrollers or FPGA.
  • Proven experience designing and executing electrical, EMI/EMC, thermal vacuum, vibration, and functional test plans.
  • Ability to interpret and apply test data to improve designs.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
  • Team leadership and mentorship abilities.
  • U.S. citizenship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with RF processing system architecture and design, including testing.
  • Experience with space-qualified microprocessors or FPGA families.
  • Knowledge of system power calculations throughout a space design cycle.
  • Prior work with space-qualifying standards such as NASA SP-3008, ECSS-E-ST-20C, MIL-STD-1553, and SpaceWire.

Responsibilities

  • Define and validate architectures for avionics, payload electronics, power-distribution units, and environmental control systems; produce derived specifications, system-level block diagrams, and test plans.
  • Evaluate and select commercial or radiation-hardened components, including COTS and rad-hard components, against mission specifications.
  • Oversee prototype builds, assembly, and production-grade manufacturing.
  • Design and execute system-level electrical, functional, EMI/EMC, vibration, and thermal test plans; analyze test data, generate reports, and drive verification efforts.
  • Define and maintain electronic interface control documents (ICDs, EID), and coordinate across hardware, power, software, and mechanical teams to resolve interface issues.
  • Produce design specifications, test procedures, and operational manuals, and maintain a knowledge base for future teams.
  • Translate customer requests into technological solutions and represent SEAKR in unit sell-off and delivery.
  • Mentor junior engineers, conduct design reviews, and foster cross-functional teamwork.
