The Senior Sourcing Specialist is a member of the Supply Management sourcing team, and reports to the Director of Sourcing – Supply Management. This role will involve working collaboratively with components, teams across our business and external third parties. A solid background in category management and leading mildly complex contracts and categories for a large organization is required to help our business thrive in a dynamic and rapidly changing broadcast and media environment. The successful candidate will show initiative to aim and attain personal and departmental objectives with impact for its sourcing activities and the value it generates to benefit CBC; and will lead contract activities so that they are executed and documented on a day-to-day basis, in line with the global strategic plan; as well as maintain healthy relationships with suppliers. The Senior Sourcing Specialist will demonstrate creativity & lateral thinking while exercising a sense of urgency when executing ongoing activities. He/she will demonstrate his/her business acumen and entrepreneurial aptitudes while remaining agile and applying his/her learning agility. The candidate must be an analytical thinker and must be attentive to details. The candidate will demonstrate resilience, patience and tenacity, and understand the value of information management – telling the story in a clear fashion, taking into account cultural aspects and risk awareness. The candidate should be proactive to go and seek added value where it is needed and uncover opportunities. The Senior Sourcing Specialist must be able to work proficiently in both French and English, and have a strong background and experience in running Sourcing Events end to end, including strategy, approach, drafting, public Procurement sourcing, evaluation, negotiations, contracting, monitoring and be willing to travel on a limited basis as required.

Requirements

  • 5+ years sourcing experience
  • Essential experience in information technology, software, SaaS, hardware, maintenance, SLAs, and SLOs
  • Experience collaborating with information security, privacy, risk management, and sustainability departments
  • Experience in strategic sourcing and procurement is essential
  • Good legal and contract drafting abilities
  • System and process experience
  • Very good communication and influencing skills
  • Leadership skills
  • Team player at his/her levels to collaborate with components, and sourcing team
  • General business skills, business acumen and negotiation savvy
  • General knowledge of finance and/or accounting, risk management, etc.
  • Ability to understand the Corporation culture and how to best communicate procurement’s value to it
  • Strong knowledge of sourcing and procurement principles and best practices
  • Strategic mindset and problem-solving skills
  • Change management aptitude
  • Bilingual (French and English) at a proficient level for commercial negotiation and contract drafting
  • Self-starter, quick onboarding & knowledge ramp up, take positions on topics and seek affirmation when needed, a good spirit to manage elements of dropping into and role hit the ground running

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor Degree, MBA or Master in related field an asset
  • SCMA (PMAC) certification (SCMP or CPP) or equivalent would be considered an asset
  • Familiar with and capable of using various software packages, ERP software SAP & Oracle, in delivering corporate reports and projects would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Crown Corporations and government would be considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Operationally collaborate and contribute with your team and the Director of Sourcing to develop and deliver “best in class” strategic sourcing and leverage CBC’s position to its benefit
  • Bring execution of strategies for the categories falling under his / her responsibilities
  • Execute strategic sourcing and lead assigned activities for process improvement, systems, etc. and apply best practices
  • Support the communication of the vision within the team and with Components, while building and maintaining strong relationships
  • Contribute to enhancing the tools and work with the team
  • Contribute to activities on category strategies and associated plans
  • Partner effectively with internal business units
  • Communicate with business units the importance of compliancy with the CBC Procurement Policy and Canadian Free Trade Agreement (CFTA)
  • Contribute to the efforts to redefine, transform and influence rules of engagement with Components
  • Move away from ad-hoc model to a proactive long term approach
  • Maintain a holistic view of the ongoing and upcoming projects
  • Consolidate the purchasing volume through different components
  • Focus on value creation through savings, cost avoidance, operational efficiencies, increased value for money
  • Actively increase spend under management creating additional value creation opportunities
  • Contribute to the efforts to identify incremental cost-saving and cost-reduction opportunities
  • Contribute, as required, with the development of internal dashboards, benchmarks and scorecards
  • Ensure quality of service from suppliers and function is aligned with corporate expectations (SLAs; key KPIs) and adheres to and reinforces corporate policies
  • Communicate with stakeholders across corporate service lines, maintaining strong internal relationships
  • Leverage spend analysis related data to synthesize information in an understandable manner, in order to facilitate Management and Executive decision making process
  • Execute RFx sourcing projects as required, including public tendering
  • Ensure support and monitor compliance of corporate contracts by business units
  • Assess vendors’ performance and address SLA issues and non-compliance with contracts, and make appropriate recommendations
  • Manage supplier relationships
  • Provide support to the Business for any contract issues
  • Manage the execution of the agreement
  • Monitor and communicate the status of contracts and the need to renew agreements across the portfolio of vendor relationships
