As senior sourcing manager for Global Tea, you will impact a multi-billion dollar business by shaping and executing Starbucks Global Tea sourcing strategy, ensuring long-term supply security, quality, sustainability, and value. Acting as the strategic counterpart to product, quality, and sustainability leaders around the world, this role owns multi-year sourcing strategies and key supplier partnerships that directly enable the growth and differentiation of Starbucks Global Tea Portfolio.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 4+ years of progressive experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain, preferably with global commodities or agricultural products.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing category or origin-based sourcing strategies.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a collaborative, “win-win” supplier mindset.
  • Proven ability to influence across functions and engage senior stakeholders.
  • Advanced analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level storytelling.
  • Proficiency in Excel and sourcing/analytics tools (e.g., SAP Ariba, Oracle ERS, Power BI, Tableau).

  • Deep global origin sourcing experience across tea, botanicals, or agricultural commodities
  • Demonstrated time spent in origin with suppliers and growers building long-term partnerships
  • Strong supplier relationship leadership with experience running structured reviews and improvement plans
  • Proven ability to manage supply volatility, logistics constraints, and contingency planning.
  • Comfort owning contracts, negotiating terms, and driving documents to execution
  • Experience with ethical sourcing, sustainability reporting, and audit-backed data
  • Experience with tea, coffee, agricultural commodities, or high-risk commodity ingredient sourcing
  • Experience with sustainability, ethical sourcing, or responsible procurement programs across Food or Beverage ingredients

Responsibilities

  • Develop, own, and execute multi-year global tea & botanicals sourcing strategies across priority origins and categories
  • Integrate market intelligence, cost drivers, and origin insights to shape internal thinking and inform senior stakeholders
  • Lead strategic supplier relationships focused on long-term value, supply security, and responsible sourcing
  • Maximize customer and business value through highest-quality procurement of Teas and Botanicals through most efficient value chain and through best negotiated costs
  • Drive value creation through cost stewardship, innovation, and margin protection
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate supply, ethical, regulatory, and logistical risks
  • Independently lead contracting strategies, negotiations, and agreement execution
  • Lead responsible sourcing program execution across tea and botanicals by advancing traceability, supplier due diligence, and accurate sustainability reporting supported by auditable data.
