Learn more about Matterport: https://matterport.com/ Role Overview: We are seeking a Senior Principal Solutions Engineer to support the accelerating global demand for Matterport’s platform and solutions. This role represents the highest level of individual technical leadership within the Solutions Engineering organization and is designed for a deeply experienced technical sales professional who operates as a strategic advisor, internal authority, and external thought leader. This position owns the most complex and business-critical technical engagements, shapes how Matterport sells and deploys solutions at scale, and materially influences product direction, go-to-market strategy, and enterprise customer success. The role reports to the regional Solutions Engineering leader and operates with a high degree of autonomy and accountability across regions, accounts, and teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited, not-for-profit, in-person college or university.
  • A track record of commitment to prior employers.
  • 8+ years of experience supporting B2B SaaS solutions in a pre-sales or technical consulting capacity, with demonstrated enterprise-level impact.
  • Proven history of long-term commitment and progression within prior organizations.
  • Exceptional executive-level communication skills, with the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders across functions and seniority levels.
  • Deep experience with APIs, SDKs, and custom integrations, including hands-on prototyping using technologies such as JavaScript and GraphQL.
  • Advanced understanding of 3D data types (models, point clouds, imagery) and the workflows customers use to operationalize spatial data.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms, security architecture, and authentication technologies (e.g., AWS, SAML, OAuth).
  • Working understanding of machine learning and AI concepts as applied to data-driven products.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% as business needs require.

  • Deep knowledge of the Matterport platform, ecosystem integrations, and partner offerings.
  • Advanced familiarity with 3D modeling, visualization, and construction/engineering platforms such as Autodesk, SketchUp, Procore, PlanGrid, Unity, Unreal Engine, or similar.
  • Experience shaping technical strategy for large partners or enterprise customers.
  • Recognized externally or internally as a subject matter expert in spatial data or related technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical authority for the most complex, high-value, and strategically significant sales opportunities, including enterprise and global accounts.
  • Advise executive-level customer stakeholders on architectural decisions, security posture, integrations, and long-term platform strategy.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to internal sales leadership on deal strategy, risk assessment, and solution positioning.
  • Define and lead advanced solution architectures, custom integrations, and proof-of-concept engagements that address ambiguous, multi-system customer requirements.
  • Set technical standards for demonstrations, pilots, and solution validation efforts across the Solutions Engineering organization.
  • Own and guide resolution of non-standard, high-risk technical challenges with accountability for outcomes that impact revenue and customer trust.
  • Establish best practices, methodologies, and technical frameworks used by the broader Solutions Engineering team.
  • Influence company-wide technical selling strategy, including how Matterport positions security, integrations, data workflows, and platform extensibility.
  • Serve as a recognized internal subject matter expert across 3D capture, spatial data workflows, cloud architecture, and enterprise integrations.
  • Provide authoritative field insight to Product Management, Product Marketing, Security, and R&D to shape roadmap prioritization, enterprise readiness, and competitive differentiation.
  • Translate customer and partner needs into actionable product and platform recommendations with clear business rationale.
  • Contribute to broader organizational initiatives that require deep technical and commercial judgment.
  • Design and deliver advanced technical training programs for Solutions Engineers, Account Executives, and strategic partners.
  • Mentor senior and mid-level Solutions Engineers, raising the overall technical bar of the organization.
  • Guide onboarding and development frameworks to support scale, consistency, and technical excellence.
  • Lead enterprise-level security, privacy, and compliance discussions with customers and partners.
  • Act as a technical escalation point for security-related inquiries and solution reviews.
  • Partner with internal security and legal stakeholders to align customer requirements with Matterport’s policies and capabilities.
  • Represent Matterport as a technical thought leader at industry events, executive briefings, webinars, and conferences.
  • Engage with strategic partners and ecosystem vendors to define joint solution approaches and integration strategies.
  • Provide leadership coverage and decision-making support during manager absences.
  • May direct or coordinate the activities of other Solutions Engineers on complex initiatives without formal people-management responsibility.
