About The Position

Join our team supporting the Department of Homeland (DHS) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), where you will serve as the technical lead for portfolio and program management efforts across a complex, mission‑driven IT environment. In this senior architect role, you will help shape the agency’s technical direction by translating business needs into clear, actionable requirements and guiding critical decisions around technologies and implementations. You will operate at the intersection of business strategy and technical execution—partnering with stakeholders at all levels, including those without deep technical backgrounds, to ensure solutions are well‑designed, practical, and aligned with the mission.

Requirements

  • More than ten (10+) years of experience in technical, business, and solution architecting.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in IT Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related academic discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying and classifying application components based on business and performance objectives and the associated technologies.
  • Expertise in analyzing application inventories and delivering detailed architectural guidelines that enhance business processes.
  • Experience partnering with Federal Architecture, Engineering, and other organizations to support application architecture planning, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated experience in IT Strategy and Solutions Engineering across emerging technologies and diverse platforms in a mixed lifecycle environment.
  • Ability to clearly articulate your experience and its relevance to this opportunity in an orals setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working within the DHS, particularly in agile and DevOps environments.
  • Current active Secret clearance.
  • Certifications in architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman) or cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure).

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate applications to determine their contribution to business value and return on investment.
  • Conduct solution architecture walkthroughs as needed or requested.
  • Communicate technical decisions and implementation details clearly and effectively to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Lead cross‑functional teams through the design, development, and deployment of robust solution architectures.
  • Perform ongoing assessments of current architectures to identify opportunities for optimization and improvement.
  • Prepare and deliver detailed architectural designs, documentation, and reports to senior leadership and stakeholder groups.
  • Ensure all architectural decisions and implementations comply with relevant standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
